"...Jamie Coots “lived and died consistent with his faith” and his death will only inspire more people to obey an instruction from God in the Gospel of Mark that “they shall take up serpents,” said Professor Ralph Hood, of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga..."

Some cult members handle snakes and die, while some cult members refuse blood and die.

    AlphaMan,

Good comparison. The WTS is one of it(). Remember, Jamie Coots ," 42-year-old, who featured prominently in the National Geographic series Snake Salvation, refused medical attention on religious grounds.", part of that newspaper link quote reports.

I encourage all who wish to handle snakes as a demonstration of their faith to do so as often as possible.

This is the only known cure for this stupid stupid meme.

his death will only inspire more people to obey an instruction from God in the Gospel of Mark that “they shall take up serpents,”

    .

Undeniable proof that there really is one born every minute....

FROM THE ATTACHED ARTICLE: “They would argue that the most important thing is to die being obedient to God. So they can mourn the loss of a loved one from a serpent bite, but simultaneously be confident that they are in heaven. It’s kind of a win-win situation, as far as they see it.”

    Sounds familiar.

"Obedience is better than a sacrifice." (1st Samuel 15:22)

"Obedience is better if you're sacrificed." (1st of Cults 101)

What is of interest is that, Jamie had been biten by a poisonous snake before and he survived. Here is what his son is reported to state, "... family had expected him to survive because he had been bitten eight times before." May be Jamie was not lucky this time.
