Who the Father is, no one knows but the Son, and he to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.—Luke 10:22.

Most people, whatever their beliefs, have pondered over questions related to God’s existence. However, when they failed to reach a satisfying conclusion, many eventually gave up on their search for God. Indeed, Satan has “blinded the minds of the unbelievers.” (2 Cor. 4:4) Little wonder that the majority of mankind are left in ignorance and confusion as to the truth about the Father, the Creator of the universe! (Isa. 45:18) Yet, it is vital that people learn the truth about God. Why? Because only those who call “on the name of Jehovah” will be saved. (Rom. 10:13) To call on God’s name involves becoming acquainted with Jehovah as a Person. Jesus Christ disclosed to his disciples this vital knowledge. He revealed the Father to them. w12 4/15 1:2, 3

The name Jehovah in the NWT is replacing the word "Lord" in the Greek text. The word “Lord” in Romans 10:13 does NOT refer to Jehovah but rather to Jesus. By inserting God’s name into Romans 10:13 the NWT translators have twisted it into a corruption. Please read the context below from the NWT, the highlighted word “Lord”, in the context, refers to Christ not God and the needed “faith” is also in Jesus and his resurrection. So, when the NWT translators inserted the name Jehovah in place of “Lord” in Romans 10:13 they made Paul say something he did not intend. They manipulated a scripture which was in fact referring to Jesus not his Father. The founder of the original Watchtower Society, Charles Taze Russell, taught the truth about the Trinity, Hellfire, Immortality of the Soul, the heavenly hope and an earthly destination, the end of the system of things etc, WITHOUT resorting to inserting into the Greek Scriptures something Jehovah himself saw fit to leave out. By inserting Jehovah’s name where God himself did not direct, the NWT translators have pushed ahead of God and have corrupted his Word!

Read carefully what Romans 10:9-15 is actually saying, note in the context the words "Lord" and "him" refer to Christ not Jehovah, and come to your own conclusions.

(Romans 10:9-15) “For if you publicly declare that ‘word in your own mouth,’ that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one exercises faith for righteousness, but with the mouth one makes public declaration for salvation. 11 For the Scripture says: “None that rests his faith on him will be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for there is the same Lord over all, who is rich to all those calling upon him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah ["Lord" in the Greek] will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!” NWT

Romans 10:9-15 as it is actually written without the Tetragrammaton:

“For if you publicly declare that ‘word in your own mouth,’ that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved.

13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!”

Does it appear to you that Paul was referring to Jehovah in those scriptures above or Jesus Christ? Remember it is to Jehovah and his Son we are loyal to not men. Or are we to allow the Fear of Men to rule over us in place of God?

    The Bible says-

Who the Father is, no one knows but the Son, and he to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.—Luke 10:22.

The Bible also says that belief in Jesus and God requires faith, which is said to be a 'gift' from God. So in order to be saved, one needs to pray to God to ask for the "gift" of faith, to be able to believe.

    The Bible also says-

Because only those who call “on the name of Jehovah” will be saved. (Rom. 10:13)

So per Romans, only those who call on the name of the Lord (whether Jesus or Jehovah) will be saved FROM who's destruction?

    Answer: Jehovah's wrathful destruction.

More self-referential circular logic? Can any astute thinkers spot the illogical concept?

You gotta be kidding me? Who comes up with this stuff, and who is so thick-skulled as to actually take it seriously and waste one's life (and brain cycles) trying to wrap one's brain around what is illogical emotional extortion?

    You apparently.

PelicanBeach I hadn't seen that scripture explained so well before. I will file this away to potentially show JW relatives

Adaman funny difference there. You must call on his name to be saved... if he chooses to help.

I have not had time to research it, but was YHWH restored in the Septuagint perhaps? Remember that JWs will say that the divine name was removed by copyists. So it may have appeared in the "original" writings, only to be removed in later copies. Then, when the NT was translated to Hebrew, YHWH was restored in some passages.

    Comatose said-

Precisely. Salvation from Jehovah is doled out to those He chooses to give the gift of faith.

'Giving faith' is just another way of saying 'sparing from destruction', but it's still Jehovah deciding, and the 'price of admission' is simply ASKING, where the person has to BEG for the gift of faith, so essentially has to beg and grovel for their life.

Anyone else read 'Tom Sawyer', who sold the gang on the benefits of white-washing, and got them to PAY HIM to whitewash the fence?

NOW, who does that kind of set-up benefit, if not the ones perpetuating this entire ancient story (the GB appearing in the role of Tom Sawyer)? Knock on those doors, uh, whitewash those fences, and donate your labor for the "privilege" to be saved...

The scam is so transparent, so thinly-veiled, and yet the ones most vehemently defending it are often the most-deluded believers who so desparately want it to be true, whether in the JWs or out....

    Hi Data-Dog,

The Watchtower has inserted YHWH in the Greek scriptures without NT Manuscript evidence to back them up. They obviously disregarded the context in Romans 10:13 which clearly refers to Jesus as Lord and not Jehovah. There has been some evidence that YHWH appeared in the Septuagint but that in itself does not mean that Paul used it at every turn. God himself did not choose to preserve evidence of his name in the NT. The New World Translation Committee has no right to second guess God.

The problem is that no matter what the Bible really says, to JWs whatever the GB says it says (or means) is "the truth".
