One FB friend posted the FAQ link about "Why dont JW's celebrate xmas?" After reading the link I concluded that it is either another COLLOSSAL LIE the WT is telling, OR it is NOW OK to celebrate X-mas!

    See for yourself:

    From JW.org FAQ:

The Bible encourages us to think for ourselves, to use our “ power of reason. ” (Romans 12:1, 2) It teaches us to value the truth. (John 4:23, 24) So while we are interested in how others view us, we adhere to Bible principles even if it means that we become unpopular.

Although we choose not to celebrate Christmas ourselves, we respect each person’s right to decide for himself in this matter. We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others.

SO, based on the last two paragraphs, we can use our own "powers of reason" and decide for ourselves to celebrate or not!

    They say they won't interfere!

If you decide to celebrate and the elders want to meet to discuss this, USE THIS AGAINST THEM...tell them to F*CK OFF since the official JW.org website says there will be NO interference from them!

I would love to hear anyone here use this and hear what the response is!! (Recorded is even better)

    Its the modern PR formula.

They claim officially that individual JWs make their own personal decisions about blood, shunning, voting etc.

Its phraseology that is strictly for public consumption.

We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others.

What they're saying here is that they do not interfere with people (others) whom are not JWS.

Not to be understood that its now OK for JWS to celebrate Christmas on their own choosing and decision.

Just bad sentencing grammar of the accepted knowledge thats all.

WTS. opening the door to its members who want to celebrate Christmas, I don't think so.

Classic bait & switch to make the general public think the JW's are not a cult.

Any individual JW caught celebrating Christmas will be dealt with by the elders.

A Christian conscience is a myth. The Watchtower will tell you what your conscience is.

    It's a cult.

Although WE choose not to celebrate Christmas OURSELVES...

Yea yea I know its just complete and total BS...the fact is there is no clarification or exception stated...but it WOULD be fun to throw this in the face of elders and ask them why the WT chooses to lie or mislead people on their official web site...that there are two sets of rules for insiders and outsiders

And if WE choose to celebrate Christmas, WE are disassociating OURSELVES.

It's all PR bull crap from the Writing Department. Let's be honest. They believe that all the grandparents that give presents and grandchildren that receive presents deserve to have rocks fall from the sky and smash their heads open. "We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others." Of course not. They pray for and are eagerly looking forward to the death and destruction of billions of innocent people very soon. They just happen to be sociopaths that have the manners not to "interfere".

It would be more honest to just say JWs don't celebrate xmas because they will be disfellowshiped if they do.

    Honest and to the point.

Uh, this flips a hair trigger of mine. I don't know if there's an argumentum latinum pretensiosis for it.

"We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others."

They are claiming a power or capacity or capability to do a thing about what people in the world are already doing, and have been doing, for centuries or decades, depending on the custom. This is consistent with their making themselves the center of the known universe and the center of time.

If a freshman science student were to test out this claim using metrics that quantify momentum transfer between the thermal exhalation of a JW at a door step with some panda cartoons on a beautiful snowy pre-Christmas winter day, and the motions of the householder as they wrap gifts, hang lights, etc, etc, that student would discover, separately and repeatably, in household after household, state after state, to at least the sixth sigma, that JWs do not possess, in the first place, the power or capacity or capability to "interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others", even if they were foaming at the mouth or slouching towards brains or titrating some mad test tubes to attempt to do so. Pretension to influence outside their cult. (Or, the mentally, emotionally, spiritually, psychically, ontologically, socio-economially infirm, which alas is a nontrivial %.)
