Apostasy: Year Two

Today is my two-year anniversary of joining JWN. What’s new with me? I’ve a girlfriend, will be serving as a deacon next year at church, I’ve finished rereading the Bible as a non-JW. Last Tuesday, I voted for the second year in a row. I volunteer with the Micah Initiative and tutor 2nd graders who have difficulty in reading or math.

I've been faded for over a year. My family and I have cordial relations, but I strive not to “rock the boat”. I wish I could go into detail, but a sad set of circumstances these past two weeks have put me in contact with allot of JWs I know and care about, but I have to strive to maintain a distance with them. Of course, very few of us bear JWs ill will, just the opposite. Our beef is with the Watchtower.

I’ve been attempting to do my part in helping JWs learn TTATT by making anonymous videos. I strive to not mention the Watchtower or JWs directly, but address aspects of the more problematic teachings that show the theology untenable. I try to keep things free from negativity. I ask myself what kind of videos would have appealed to me two years ago when I started to wake up.

DS211: I attend a small Disciples of Christ church. Initially I was attracted to the open-endedness. As the pastor once said, “We don’t agree on much and that’s the way we likes it.” Matters of doctrine are put aside. People can voice different opinions and nobody bats an eye. Of course, having visiting a number of other mainline denominations, this is not unique to the Disciples of Christ.

You're doing a great job with your videos. I think you're so right what you say about JWs. After all, many of them are family and friends we've had for years. They need videos like these, it's ones like this that gets the thinking ones thinking!
