I was reading an academic paper earlier, about some quite boring Biblical stuff, but what stood out to me was that the period of forty years was mentioned, and in brackets was ( a generation).
Bible scholars who know what they are talking about don't seem to give a generation in Bible terms any longer than that, and neither does common sense.

I find it unusual that 6 generations are alive, and understand why it would be reported.
I don't think that people should admire all these people who became very young mothers and didn't manage to help their daughter to break that same pattern.
But stuff happens.
