I have often thought that if I was called to a JC which I would not attend, I would call in to question their "authority", they have none, unless you give it to them.

We now have further reason to question their "authority".

In my case, and anyone else who has been out one way or another prior to the "New Light" now shining in the July WT, the religion we left no longer exists, it has changed beyond recognition, so how can they claim any authority over me, someone who once belonged to a religion which is now of the past ?

If you can't be sued how can you DF.

I suppose the WT would claim again that the 3 Elders who DF you are not their agents, so you cannot sue the WT. Of course the individual Elders can be sued, which is something to threaten them with if they propose a JC, that you will sue them individually for Defamation of Character.

Here in the U.K the law on this is structured in such a way that a successful suit should not be a huge problem. I doubt it would come to that, the WT Legal Dept would tell the Elders they are on their own, and they would drop the JC, because they would have to pay any legal costs, and they don't like spending their own £££.

Again a difference with the RCC, at least they spend the Diocese' money defending their Priests.
