Could anyone really expect accurate information from a film called “Forbidden archaeology”? How about Forbidden mathematics or Forbidden meteorology?... so I couldn’t bring myself to watch the video.

Prehistoric archaeology is a painstaking academic science usually with little dramatic possibilities. The first consideration is to determine at which stage in the climate sequence the deposits come from in which the artefacts and bones etc, were laid down. The type of bones and the type or styles of tools are primary indicators. For example Elephant bones in England means “old”. I have excavated a number of mammoths and straight tusked elephant (Elaphus antiquus) here in Oxfordshire.

I visited a 500,000 years old, pre-Homo sapiens site in southern England, littered with beautifully carved stone hand axes and antler tools. After the geological context was analysed, the climate sequence was identified. Rodent specialists and other palaeontologists were brought in. One of the indicators of the precise age was determined at this site by the known evolution of vole’s teeth.

So real science is often unsexy information especially for those brought up on an intellectual diet of   popular TV.

We really should read the peripheral signals before we believe something. UFO TV!? A documentary?

Surely what you saw was a film targeted at couch-potato-conspiracy-theorists, made for the purpose of entertainment and to make money? It’s like the contents of the Watchtower and the Bible, what have facts got to do with it?
