You are no longer providing narcissistic supply to the narcissist and they must seek out new sources of narcissistic supply. Every behavior and social manipulation w/ the JW's is driven by the availability of Narcissistic supply.
Julia O, beat me to the comment. This increased activity is born of FEAR. The WTBT$ pounds fear into it's followers. Not only does the friend or realitive fear they could also "succumb to Satans designs", they want to set a "Good example" for the wayward loved one to hopefully imitate.
An additional thought...... The WBT$ repetedly asserts that study (of THEIR publications), meetings, and field service are the way to keep oneself "strong in the troof" In a way they are right. That busywork usually makes a person too busy and tired to research or even think. It keeps one in almost a hypnotic state where opposing thoughts (no matter how reasonable) simply cant penetrate.
