I keep explaining that there is a wide range of activities we can do beyond law. It is not law or nothing. History is full of groups that accomplished their agenda without law. First, we celebrate ourselves. Parodies are impt and fu nny.Mock them and stop them. Don't be strident.

I think this would only work if religiously-mandated shunning and ostracization was conclusively demonstrated to be directly responsible for tens of thousands of unneccessary deaths.

Team Conti's approach is the better tactic; society's increasing outrage and disgust over the institutionalized sexual victimization of young people within authoritarian high-control religions is far more palpable, it has the advantage of being demonstrably true, and it wouldn't hurt to have an organization that the Justice System to "make an example of", even if only to placate an angry populace or score political points.

Both karter and BOTR are on the money.

There are truly rabidly offensive groups in our communities who make the Watchtower's periodic anti-apostate rants appear flimsy and laughable by contrast. And no body, for example, is lining up the KKK for court action. Besides, as I have long argued, court action against the Watchtower is frustratingly counter-productive. Do you want to know what the Australian JWs think of Mr Unthank's discursive attempts to legislate against the Watchtower? From what I've been able to ascertain, there are two broad responses: On the one hand, the view Mr Unthank as an unhinged and bitter man who is simply proving how unique JWs think they are (i.e., persecuted as Christ said they would be). On the other hand, I understand that a huge proportion of Australian JWs do not know much at all about Mr Unthank's endeavors. The Watchtower would view this as a near perfect result.

Bitterness - or perceived bitterness never produces desired results. Oh, and perhaps best of all, lawyers for both sides line their pockets whatever the result..
