Did anyone understand the ending?
Yes. It took me minute, but then I got it. Tony is having dinner with his family at a 50's diner. They are waiting for their daughter. A 50's classic is playing on the sound track.
Meanwhile the director has turned our focus on a guy who looks the part of a hit man. This character has just gone into the men's room when Tony looks up and sees his daughter walking in as he is munching from a platter of (onion rings?) appetizers.
The guy walks out of the bathroom, the screen goes black and stays black and quiet for several seconds.
We are now in Tony's POV. Only an execution type head shot could put the lights out so quickly.
Perfect ending.
PS- If, as reported, Gandolfini died of a massive coronary he may have suffered pain for a few seconds before the lights went out
