    Sorry, I didn't mean to leave my original post blank the other day, my browser was playing up.

    Thanks for all your replies. So let me get this right.

    If you don't consent for blood but the doctors give your child a tranfusion anyway because they were losing blood, the parents would be 'let off' by the elders because they didn't consent in the first place?

    If you do sign the consent form for a blood transfusion and the child is given blood, if anyone finds out and tells the elders then a JC would be formed? If you said that you were sorry, you'd be given a private reproof but if you said you weren't sorry, then you'd be considered as having DA yourself?

    So, the outcome for the child is the same, thanks to the law. The child would be hopefully be saved but the parents are shunned because they wanted to save their childs life. Have I understood this properly?
