    You said:

But wasn’t the Insight Book published in 1988, same as this Watchtower article?

Yes, the copyright date says 1988, so it was published/printed in the early part of the year.

It must have been as the book was introduced and distributed in that years District Convention “Divine Justice” that started around the world in May of 1988 and lasted through the early months of 1989. Obviously, the Society would not have reprinted all those books just to correct it’s views on the future of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. So they saw it necessary to publish the Questions from Readers article in the June 1st Watchtower.

However, the Revelation Climax book would also have been prepared in early 1988 for distribution at the conventions that year, and it disagrees with the Insight book. Thus, the Society prepared and published two books at the same time that disagreed with each other. The Question from Readers article does not change this.

As for whether they are deliberately trying to confuse people, I don't think they are. I think they simply are so confused themselves that they cannot keep their own continually flip-flopping doctrines straight themselves.

Correct, that's why it was necessary to clear up by printed a "Questions from Readers" about the subject.

It does make perfectly good sense. You choose not to understand when it is convenient for you.

    Mavman:

So, according to you, the Question from Readers was necessary to clear up the confusion caused by two books prepared at the same time giving different doctrinal opinions.

Which raises the questions: if this is truly an organisation directed by God, why would they have this confusion? Is one segment of the writing committee spirit directed and another segment not? Couldn't God direct them to get their doctrines straight before they published contradictory doctrines simultaneously?

Is it not rather a far more likely explanation that this is just an ordinary human organisation that has been caught out by it's own vacillating messages?

Sodom and Gomorrah have always been a running joke in the jws world. One minute they are toast, the next they get to be with all the others in paradise.

I'm just glad they are never WRONG or otherwise you might think they are just making this shit up as they are going a long. You know something men in power like to do.
