Just thought I would bring up this GEM of a article from our rich spiritual heritage.

    Avoid Unprofitable Questions

HAVE you noticed how frequently the apostle Paul alerted Christians to guard against speculation and unprofitable questions? To Timothy he wrote: "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories." (2 Tim. 4:3, 4) In his letter to Titus, Paul warned: "Shun foolish questionings and genealogies and strife and fights over the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile." (Titus 3:9) Elsewhere the apostle cautions Christians to avoid "philosophy and empty deception," "idle talk," "empty speeches," "falsely called ?knowledge,"" "false stories," and "strange teachings."?Col. 2:8; 1 Tim. 1:6; 6:20; 2 Tim. 4:4; Heb. 13:9. (...)

    ABUNDANT KNOWLEDGE

Today, in the spiritual paradise enjoyed by Jehovah?s witnesses, the divine promise has come true: "Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant." (Dan. 12:4) (...) Yes, from Jehovah God, his Word and organization comes the instruction that enables Christians to walk in His paths, worshiping the Father with spirit and truth. (John 4:24)

    UNPROFITABLE USE OF TIME

Handling God?s Word of truth aright requires that we discern between profitable and unprofitable questions. Naturally we have questions about the past, present and future. In the Bible Jehovah has provided authentic answers to the questions that properly concern us at this time. Sometimes secular history can fill us in on details not given in the Bible. But there are other questions to which neither the Bible nor profane history provides an answer. It is not wise or safe for us to speculate about questions of that nature.

For example, in all good faith one might ask, What was Jehovah doing before he created Jesus, by whom he made all other things? If Adam and Eve had repented, would God have forgiven them? What happened to the bodies of those who perished in the Flood? Did the expensive gifts brought to the babe Jesus make Joseph and Mary rich for the rest of their lives? What did Jesus do between the ages of twelve and thirty besides his carpentering? How would Jehovah have redeemed the race if Jesus had not proved faithful? Exactly how long did Jesus? trip to heaven take? Much time could be spent conjecturing on such matters.

    THE DANGERS

A Christian who indulges in speculation from the platform or in group Bible study tends to attract undue attention to himself. Personal theories can cause division of thought and even lead to disputes about trifles. Ones newly associated with Jehovah?s congregation might be stumbled by what would appear to be a lack of love and unity. (...)

Your avoiding speculation and unprofitable questions will demonstrate your meekness and willingness to await Jehovah?s due time to provide further information on any matter, if it be his will. This he can easily do by further enlightening our understanding of the Bible, by bringing to pass events foretold therein, or even by resurrecting the dead with their detailed knowledge of past events. By waiting upon Him and his organization all of Jehovah?s servants will speak in agreement, being "fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought," to his praise and our eternal welfare.?1 Cor. 1:10.

Mind you, when it comes to the Churches of Christendom, parishioners had better ask all sorts of questions and get the hell out of the churches and we, the Witnesses, will happily and tirelessly answer your searching questions.

However, once you become a witness, we will have to curtail your tendency to question the very organization you've joined.

Bearing in mind this was written in 1962 the statement

Today, in the spiritual paradise enjoyed by Jehovah?s witnesses, the divine promise has come true: "Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant."

is now redundant with all the 'new light(TM)' that has changed all the 'true knowledge(TM)' for even 'truer knowledge(TM)'

Belive half of what they believed in1962 and prepare to get DF'd. The WBT$ are twats of the lowest order!

The basic term in WTS publications is SPECULATION.

Discernment is also vital on the part of elders when called upon to assist those who speak unwisely. (2 Timothy 2:7) At times, congregation members may get caught up in disputes about trifles and speculative arguments. To protect the unity of the congregation, elders should be quick to address such problems. At the same time, they avoid imputing wrong motives to their brothers and are not overhasty to view them as apostates.

*** w75 6/15 Looking to the Future with Confidence ***

    THRILLING PROSPECTS FOR THE FUTURE

20 As we look to the future we have many inviting prospects ahead of us. Therefore, we have no need to speculate about details that are not supplied by the Scriptures, but, rather, to be willing to wait upon Jehovah instead of fretting or becoming disturbed over such matters. Why speculate about who will be resurrected, how children will be cared for, what type of houses will be built, whether we will use machines, and suchlike questions. If we really needed to know these things, Jehovah would have provided the answers.

21 Rather than speculating on the unknown, how much better it is to concentrate on the thrilling things the Bible does say. Foremost of these is the prospect of life with the approval of God. An earth teeming with life is what the Bible envisions. What a joy it will be to welcome back the dead! How tears of happiness will flow as loved ones are reunited! And imagine meeting firsthand the faithful servants of God mentioned in the Bible! How thrilling, too, to see our bodies ‘return to the days of our youthful vigor’! (Job 33:25) What a pleasure it will be to live in paradise with perfect food, satisfying work, companions with whom we delight to associate and, best of all, complete freedom to worship our God, Jehovah!

22 Can we really be sure that this is what the future will be like? Indeed we can, for it is promised by Jehovah God. He will not fail to bring it to pass, for “it is impossible for God to lie.” (Heb. 6:18) Eagerly, then, we look to the events ahead with full confidence in the One who is shaping the future!

OMG... I was LOL so much it hurt..."Body Snatchers" Avatar ...(Free Watchtower)...I literally saw this when I dared to express my thoughts on scriptures...especially when it didn't conform to the "current understanding". It's good to see that people get it..."Not allowed to question...must have the mark of this Beast-ORG (BORG) on your forehead...only it's thinking...and the Beast's mark on your hand... do it their way. If you don't then....AGHHHH ! "Body Snatchers" Alarm goes out.

Steve 2 is correct...we expect others to have independent thinking and "Question the teachings of their Religion"...but once they become one of "US" ...it is Verbotten".

    Good subject...especially now....

This has got to be one of the most hypocritical statement ever in the WT. What a bunch of brain dead losers the writers for this magazine really are.

Being a writer for this corporation got to be the crappiest job on the planet because they have to write utterly worthless shit. If I had this job I'd probably kill myself. Deluding themselves all the time to write this crap.
