    1. Do the WT Publications show people how to think, or what to think? (The answer is NOT in the paragraph. You'll have to think for yourself).

Oh, oh oh! Over here!! (Yes, Brother Gopher.)

The Watchtower teaches that independent thinking is dangerous and allows room for the Devil's attitude to influence you.

Therefore, they admit that they want their followers to do "dependent thinking", as that is the only other kind aside from independent thinking. They want you to depend on their understanding of what is important and what the Bible means.

(I've used that line of reasoning with JW's in discussions on YouTube and have yet to hear any rebuttal! )

And the watchtower does not present opposing views. Always on its side as if its the truth, the obsolute 'truth'. On top of that, the Watchtower discourages higher education prefering that its adherents are high school graduates.

See, that's the irony of the Watchtower. They tell you the truth about who they are and what they are doing much more than you give them credit for, but you must parse their stilted language and weasel words to see what they are saying. They don't promise you life in paradise if you obey them. They offer you aprospect of life in paradise. Big difference. When you go to the casino you have a prospect of winning the jackpot.

A great teacher will guide you through a course of study, and offer you opportunities to advance. The goal is for you to master the course, demonstrate your mastery by producing a paper or passing a test, and then you graduate or get passed out of the course. If you had a teacher who kept you coming back for more instruction for decades without you building enough mastery to graduate their course, a rational observer would conclude that your teacher was a con artist who was creating dependency in you to need them. So I wonder, is there any provision to graduate from Awake University? Or is it all a con?

"Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime".

Watchtower only gives you a fish.

    Holy mackerel !

    Good point " ADNCMS" !

The WT is the theological SHAPE magazine. They go out of business if you actually get into shape and no longer need them. So they string you along with a myriad of strange exercises and a reduced calorie diet. They make sure to throw in the occasional success story of another WT/shape reader! The magazine is not designed to get you spiritually healthy. It is designed to keep you in a perpetual state of dependency.

The world is so terrible! It's not your fault that you are spiritually flabby, the cards are stacked against you! Just stay with spiritual MOTHER, she knows what's best, and she will make sure baby doesn't hurt himself by thinking to much.

Spiritual babies need milk, but someday you have to put on your big boy pants..
