I think its also a circumstance of looking at the employment picture to see who is in need of a job.

If you can get someone with a higher education level than a lower one why not choose the higher one, they may be smarter and perform better.

Back in the 1950's to 1990's you could easily get a job with just a high school diploma or less, now that there are so many people coming into the

employment market such as new immigrants, companies are thinking lets get the best educated ones we can, it might only help are company in

    the long run.

The other aspect to realize is that the world has evolved into a more technical working society where higher education is a real necessity,

which in turn requires people with a better education than in the past.

There is no doubt that people with no more than HS or "some college" have been getting fucking killed in the job market for a long time now. That said, the education market is a bubble: really, the guy who gets the coffee has a degree? Probably has shitload of debt, too.

The reason for this is because education has become so dumbed-down that many graduates of high schools in certain areas were hardly literate and unable to fill out a job application or do basic arithmetic!

Years ago, a child would be left-back and made to repeat the year if they failed. No more.

That's a very serious problem. A High School degree doesn't mean squat in this country, so is it any wonder employers hold out for a college degree?

But there will always be "windows to wash" and "carpets that need cleaning" ......no degree required.

I have heard that some employers will hire a college grad without it even being in that particular field, because the diploma shows they are capable of learning. They feel they will be able to pick up whatever he needs to do on the job to do well.
