No. Never happened to me. Oh wait yes, it did. When I got married, I left a large metropolitan area and moved 1,600 miles to the boondocks. At my first meeting, I was asked if I came from a town or a city. I had never thought about it. Umm . I didn't live in the big City, I lived in its suburb, so I said Town. Oh. how big was it? I said I don't know 70 or 80,000 I guess. Oh, was the response. The area I moved to was 5,000 or more was considered a Town, 50,000 or more was a City. Not understanding that my answer, innocent though it was, got me marked as weird or a smart a$$.
