Another reason why 1914 is WRONG

    Nothing happened in 1915.

None of their expectations were fulfilled in 1914, but WWI was a major event. . . . so they then claimed WWI as proof of the last days begining. One problem is, and there are many, is that the last days were taught to have begun in 1799, and 1914 was supposed to spell the end of the last days, not the start. . . . . anyway fast forward almost a hundred years and the society has fixed all their past errors by rewriting their history and what they actually believed and expected to happen for 1914, in order to make themselves look like some divinely appointed prophet of God.

They can tell the JWs what they want about their history, and if any JWs do research into the Society and become aware of their lies and deceit, they risk being DF'd for a mental disease.

" Why move the date back to 607 upon this discovery instead of moving Christ's invisible return up to 1915? "

Because 1914 was not even the official date for the START of the last days until the 1920's? This way Rutherford was able to use World War I to PROVE that 1914 was a marked year? So having ideas on the back burner to release when needed as " new light " is old hat for the WTBTS.

So the original 1878 dating for the 'end of the gentiles' that Russel first started using (borrowed by others) was a calculation by converting lunar years to solar years starting from 607BCE? Wow, thats rich!

I've found this quotes from CT Russell (Thanks to www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk)

    Studies in the Scriptures Vol.2, 1906 p.101

"The Kingdom of God is already begun, which is pointed out in prophecy as due to begin the exercise of power in A.D. 1878, and that the "battle of the great day of God Almighty" which will end in 1914 with the complete overthrow of the earth's present rulership, is already commenced."

Studies in the Scriptures Vol. 2, 1906 p.218

"1878 will be the end of the period of disfavor to fleshly Israel."

Now, I'm not sure how he came to understand that 1878 was the year the Kingdom of God was "due to begin the exercise of power". How did he arrive to 1878? Did Russell ever converted lunar years into solar years? Anyone know?

There was no logic used to arrive at 2520 years . A Lunar month is roughly 29.5 days long, so even so called lunar calendars have to alternate how many days in a month, and insert extra months etc to get twelve sensible months and sensible years that do not get too out of synch. with the Sun, and therefore the seasons.

Russell, following Miller and others insisted that a "Prophetic" year was 360 days long, so not a true lunar year. Using logic, one would therefore think as you say that every one of the 2520 years would be 360 days long too, but no, that didn't work for them.

Russell and others fiddled around with all sorts of calculations to do with Jubilee years and so on to arrive at dates that strangely were around the time they were preaching, they weren't just using the Seven Times of Daniel 4.

The point is with the seven times of Daniel that the fulfillment is given in the chapter and there is no remit for a later or a "larger" or "greater" fulfillment, and even if there were, there would be no reason to take a "day for a year" .

The whole numerology thing really is the most awful silly nonsense , as Moshe says.
