    I'm guilty of using this illustration from the podium. Sadly, I used too much and it slightly overflowed. LOL!

    I found it more useful a couple years later when I used it at work with a group of managers and the importance of identifying priorities and fitting everything else around it.

    Just think how many more pebbles you could fit into the jar if you took out the washtowel crap. This only illustrates how much the washtowel hogs your time and resources.

    That illustration was stolen from Stephen Covey. I am not sure whether it was from

    "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" or "First Things First".

    Perhaps it was in both.

    I remember this illustration, but used with marbles. The 'brother' that was giving the talk actually used large marbles in a jar, he then added small marbles, but misjudged pouring them into the jar, the marbles rolled all over the stage and down into the audience. True Story. We all said that he lost his marbles...hiss, boo, hiss.
