Common ground was the way we were to approach Muslims as we encountered many in Spain, mainly because they spoke English. We had especially prepared brochures and they always let us read a scripture from the Bible or would read it themselves.

There was no fear of reprisals from Muslims out there because it was mainly used the way Church of England use their religion over here. It is a title not a way of life.

When I worked in a leather goods shop I used to get my boss his breakfast during ramadam so the other Muslims wouldn't know he wasn't fasting. What none of the Muslims knew was that none of them were fasting because we used to chat about it whilst waiting in the cafe. It was obviously breakfast for a Muslim because of the tea that went with it. None of us snitched but we did laugh about what hypocrites they all were.

Edited to add. Muslims in UK are scary

excellent point , I've always thought this, if I was a Christian I'd find Islam far more an offensive belief system then any sect of the the so called churches of Christendom, I had this conversation with my father and he'd claim that Islam is more acceptable to JW's as they are a monotheistic. Basically the WTS is scared stiff of printing even the minutest critique of Islam as it would incur all sorts of Fatwas.

The Soc has been very outspoken against Islam:

"In examining the Quran, which is about the size of the Christian Greek Scriptures, one is struck with the absence of miracles or proof that Muhammad was indeed a prophet sent of God."

"repeatedly Muhammad told them... that his lack of signs was for the purpose of testing their faith. But what is faith without proof? Anyone could claim to be sent of God. "

"Muhammad’s critics had complained that he sometimes contradicted himself, and so he taught that whenever a subsequent revelation contradicted a previous one, the second canceled or abrogated the first."

"Muhammad was accused of being a forger"

"In the light of the record made by history, nothing could be more fantastic than to claim that Islam believes only in defensive warfare."

"After Muhammad’s death Islam was spread by the sword’s going into Europe"

You've got to hand it to the Soc. In 1952-3 they really tore into Islam!

    Fearless?

Oh yah...they are so fearless that they can't even discuss

    their own doctrine amongst themselves!

Did you ever make a slight critical comment about anything

jw...........immediately there is "deer caught in the headlites"

kind of look, & an"elephant in the room" feeling ...

    and no fearless discussion!

Splash , if the angel Gabriel allegedly appeared to Muhammad and left him with this amazing vision and message for mankind a lot of folks could imply that a miracle had taken place, I wonder if accusing the prophet of being a "forger" is fatwa inducing?

Most religions never go head to head debating topics and doctrines, it doesn't present a concern for them, they are more wanting

to profess their doctrines and cultivate their own perceivable power and presence directly toward themselves.

Of course most of the WTS. doctrines are and were false because of the fact that this particular religion has a publishing at

its sole operating core. The Watchtower has and still is pressed to sell their version of the Bible's Gospel, which was really an adulterated

commercialized Gospel created to support their literature proliferation.

    Hi jookbeard,

I thought the first three quotes from that 1953 WT would sit equally at home directed to the GB instead of Muhammad.
