That was the threat made to me, they wouldn't just let me fade, but it has been over a decade now so I think time has distracted them.

It would be so much easier for them if apostates and the internet simply died .
Then they could continue to fool the entire inhabited world while waitin' on the end to come

Evidently, the elder school didn't touch on us faders.

No.
The voluntary nature of JW activities, especially the distribution of literature door to door is their legal defense against child labor violations.

Remember the motive for DF isnt to save a sinner, not even punish them.... Its to keep them away. If someone is being quiet and distant, then the job is done.
If the Watchtower was a con man, imagine the damage taht could be done if a 'mark' they were sucking money from was to meet a wised up exmark.... Bd news for business. But would a con man seek out ex-marks or be content with them being quiet and distant? ....its better to leave us alone.

It is a lot like the nazi's. Shoot one dissenter as an example, and everyone else will follow orders.

No, what is a fader in the opinion of the WTS....how many meetings can you miss, one a week, 2 a week, go to only 3 a month, 1 a month? The WTS would have to come up with new or rather old rules when it was expected that every publisher get in 10 hours a month. Is the WTS suddenly going to take attendance by list, what if people are sick, do they need a note, or if they go on vacation or visit another congregation.
Fading is not among the violations because it is difficult to draw the line between someone who is just absent a lot and someone who is totally inactive.
I agree but also remember being inactive means a jw has not turnied in time for 6 months consecutively. It has nothing to do with meeting attendance. I have known jws to turn in time but have not been to meetings for a year and secretary gladly takes it and posts it. Congregations don't take attendance by names of individuals, but they do keep track of time turned in and are judged by that looking at individuals.
But if a fader starts challenging the WTS beliefs publicly to people who will rat on them, they set themselves up for a visit and a JC. Living with your boyfriend/girlfriend by staying overnight, leads to df'ing even if no one has witnessed you having sex together. Overnight, no chaperone, = sex (remember the WTS evidently thinks sex doesn't happen during the day). Holiday decorations, joining the military, joining a church (even being seen going into one can set the elders after you), and of course, associating with df'd/da'd jws can put you on the elders radar.
But not attending meetings or turning in time only will not be worth the hassle, in fact, it will cause more problems than it solves.
