....would you tell them the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
When just one person listens, will you do the same?
If Everyone Was Listening.....

OTWO- Interesting question. Depends on who you define by " everyone " and the old Pontius Pilate question , " What is truth ? " LOL !
But yeah, in general I'm the same guy telling the " truth " to people whether I'm in a crowd or talking one on one with somebody. UNLESS sharing a " truth " will damage someone's life or cause unnecessary horrific pain psychologically ( and I emphasize unnecessary ) because if it's necessary I will be straight up but I'm not adverse to using " WT theocratic warfare tactics " i.e. telling an untruth in order to help somebody in a positive way in order to free their minds of cult influence or control. Some may view it as unethical, I view it as a kindness . I'm not hemmed in by what others think of my tactics in other words- it's a positive end result that I usually look for. Hope that doesn't make it more confusing- but I'm just being straight up here. It just depends on the varying situations . LOL ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Phizzy, will it help if I enlarge the font? LOL at you.
Tater-T, that is a huge part of the gamble of being totally honest.
Flipper, the question is hugely philosophical and take what you will from it. Off the bat, it says to me: "If everyone even close to my sphere of influence was really listening with the goal of actually understanding me, would I say the important truths that I think they need to hear?"
Of course in my case, this is really referring to the JW's that I care (or cared) about, and the truth of how their beliefs are damaging them. But in another case, the question might be about brutal honesty in personal matters. I don't take it to mean "Would I go out of my way to point out bad taste or dumb thoughts or cold harsh truths like 'That skirt makes your butt look huge.'"

Philosophically speaking ... hmmm.
Sometimes it's a waste of breath, if people are not in listening mode. Just . not . worth the effort.
In real terms, I like to be a truth-teller. It builds trust, and I don't have to worry about my failing memory (liars need good memories!).

My mentor always told me that in buisness many times you are ready to say something, but the other person isn't ready to hear it. So what you want to accomplish with your words is doomed before you use them. You need to be patient and wait until you see something that may be evidence of them being "ready" to hear something you have to say.
Same applies here......probably moreso.
