But - she was a psychologist and it took her nine years to figure this out?

Have you considered this: . . . Vidiot

No, I missed that thread. Thanks for the link.

Excellent OP . . . I'll catch up with the rest of it. The lids are popping off the worm cans here in NZ as well . . . it's becoming a hot issue. As it needs to. Innocent and vulnerable victims without advocacy or recourse, as with children, are the most horribly victimised as is humanly possible.

The catholic church has NOT changed it's policy to cover up child sex abuse. That is just to satisfy the public that the problem has been addressed because they were so badly found out.

They still cover most of it up if they can get away with it. Good on him for taking it to the police.

Yes, the position of the psychologist is not clear. Another report says she was engaged to "help" victims. Apparently more than 120 of them.

It seems, Cardinal Pell has been authorising large borrowings by the order to pay out damage claims by more than 200 claimed victims. And the psychologists report of "worst" incidents appears to refer to boys being drugged and then pack-raped by teaching brothers.

James Woods - it is not altogether clear that the accusations against the Knights Templar were true, or were merely an excuse to harass the order. However, it may well be true, as both the English king Richard (the Lionheart) and the Muslim general Saladin are thought to have practised paedophilia. It could be that it was a common practise in the the Syria-Palestine area.

Karen Leibreich has covered the disbanding of another Catholic order - An order established in 1621 by Fr.Jose de Calasanz, which he named the Piarist Order, with the goal of housing and educating the poor children of Rome.

It was disbanded in 1646 by, the then Pope.

My guess is the ‘system of cover-ups’ is all what the November 2012 thru January 2013 JW Elder one day refresher course is all about.

Just like the Vatican, WT is not interested in protecting its own victims of sexual abuse. Rather, they want to keep as tight a lid as possible on the problems that currently plague the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses involving the handling of sex offenders among its’ members.

This one day Elder school no doubt will deal a great deal with how to handle Judicial matters and the importance of first communicating with WT legal before doing anything else. WT has already admitted individual congregation Judicial Committees have cost Headquarters big bucks!

Here's the story of one boy's experience at a school run by the brothers of the St.John of God order.

    Interesting development in LA . . .

The Los Angeles Catholic Diocese must release the names of priests and church officials contained in confidential records about sexual abuse of children, a California judge ordered Monday.

Superior Court Judge Emilie Elias reversed a previous ruling by another judge that allowed the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to black out the identities of church officials in 30,000 pages of documents that are to be released, the Los Angeles Times reports. The files include medical and psychiatric records, abuse reports, church memos and letters with the Vatican.

The scandal of Child Abuse and the disgusting cover ups in the W.T/JW's is smaller in numbers than the much larger Catholic Church of Rome, but it seems to me that within the WT it is in fact more endemic.

Whatever the extent within the W.T/JW's, the more exposure it gets the better, eventually the heartless money-grubbing GB and their string- pulling puppeteers will have to change their attitude and actually start protecting children and vulnerable ones in their care.

They cannot continue to ignore their responsibility to Care and Protect, though at present they seem determined to do so.

They think they are protecting the $$$£££ etc by this method, cover up and deny, do not implement a working programme of protection etc. but the silly thing is , their actions (and lack of) up till the present will cost them Millions of $ more than if they actually did what proper morality demands that they do.
