Yadirf,
Sorry I didn't respond last night. Had to leave to go to a family party.
Door to door really is the least efficient way to reach people today. I started to notice this before I left the borg. In an hour each pair of witnesses would talk to maybe one or two people. Tops.
Last summer, I was sitting out in the yard enjoying the day. I saw 2 witnesses walking sloooowly up the street toward me. This was during the week and I was the only one home. Everyone else was at work. I have a good view of the block from here. No one answered at any door on the street. It took them over an hour to do the houses visible to me. In this hour, the only one these 2 witnesses encountered was me.
Yes they did talk to me (I'm new to this area, and they didn't know me yet) No, I wasn't mean. Did give them something to think about though. Not a very productive morning for them. Such is the scenario in most areas. To take it a step further, my second generation elder father never brought anyone into the borg in his 68 years. My mother brought in a few. My grandfather, and anointed grandmother never brought in anyone exept their 2 children. My aunt and DO uncle didn't bring in anyone either! Me? Thankfully none.
Churches have a much more effective means of reaching people. Yes, they use the media, and community outreaches that actually help people. Friends of mine go yearly on trips to bring medicine and the gospel to remote parts of the globe. They bring an interpreter with them. Another friend is a nurse/missionary in Togo, Africa.
Churches do offer Bible studies. One I attended before moving even offered classes in Greek as well as training for ministry.
They also offered parenting classes, and support groups for cancer patients. The list was huge! These classes were optional, made available for any who wanted or needed them. Extremely well attended too.
Hmmm, read a post that said you don't go door to door. Why?
And, how do you know Christians have never come to your door. Are you always home?
Anyway, this post is getting too long. I'll end it here.
