They wanted copies when I filled out mine the last time, several years ago.

Yes we had this pharisaical stipulation passed around as if it was a REQUIREMENT by the elders and even stated as such from the platform ...until it was pointed out the wording used was "MAY" (as already said above)

    The majority "complied".

Didn't ask in recent years. Just say thank you for reminding and forget about it.

Has anyone sued them over this blood doctrine recently?

I've wondered how things work in this scenario:

Person is in hospital, incoherent and needs a life-saving transfusion. Elder arrives on the scene with no verification of the incapacitated's personal doctrinal belief (signed document) but insists he has personal knowledge of the person's desire. Person dies.

Family arrives on the scene (non, ex, or even jw I suppose) and says the person was fading/disassociated etc and no longer believed in JW doctrine.

In this case, has the elder committed homicide?

Next, in his own defense in Criminal Court, the elder says that he was only acting in accordance with JW doctrine. Then who is culpable?

Family then brings the case to civil court. Who do they sue? Looking at the Conti case, this shouldn't be hard.....

My bets are that the legal department is going to advise the elders to make their decisions regarding the level of involvement on the basis of whether the copy is in the files and to strictly follow that guideline.

I think you nailed NeverKnew ,without realising we are living in the post-Condi era ,there must be a directive for more photocopies for blood cards and other issues as a way for the elders to have their backs covered ,will see...
