I know they are a nuisance (esp when you hit them) but they do serve a purpose. I though some statistics may highlight the reason for them - these are the number of posts per month since the forum started

Without the limits the topics would scroll down so quickly that it would be hard to keep up and they would possibly not get the attention that they deserve.

Disconfirmation, and those who are not "whole souled"in attendance fall by the wayside.

All in all blessings are manifest upon the board, based on these growth figures.
Much healthier than "purelanguage", where ,yesterday, there were a whole 7posters!
    And four were moderators.
    Haha.

    Hello Simon:

I have a modest suggestion for an experiment in setting posting limits. For a one week trial period, set the limit per poster to one post per twenty four hours and one new topic every seventy two hours. It would be interesting to compare the relative quality of the content; certainly there would be an decrease in trolling and hopefully an increase in the amount of consideration each of us puts in our writings.

A more limited idea would be to create a separate forum where such limits were permanent.

    Skimmer!!

Are you insane, Man??!!! One post per twenty four hours? Are you out of your mind?

The one new thread per twenty four hours has merit, however. Perhaps you're not completely mad.
