The 6-foot-5, 300 pound Duncan appeared in dozens of films, including such box office hits as "Armageddon," ''Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda."

Duncan was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of John Coffey in "The Green Mile." He worked as a bodyguard for celebrities like Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, and Notorious B.I.G. before he got his break.

I heard the news about an hour ago. He was only 54 y.o. and was living with "The Apprentice"'s infamous Omarosa Manigualt.

Sad - too young - he was a great guy.

I love him in 'The Green Mile'. I am shocked and saddened. He's not that much older than me. Suddenly I feel old.

Wishing his family strength and peace at this time.

I heard the news about an hour ago. He was only 54 y.o. and was living with "The Apprentice"'s infamous Omarosa Manigualt.

didn't know he was with her. Last I saw, he was at an NBA game with a bad little mama. That Apprentice girl looks like Louis Gosset Jr in drag.

    Regardless, R.I.P.

What a tragic loss. Horrible. My wife and I just loved his character in " The Green Mile " . We've watched that movie time and time again. One of our favorites. Rest in Peace Michael . What a sad time for his family and fans one of which will always be me. That movie will have even more special meaning to me now. I'll be 53 in October and it sure shows how we should treasure our life in the here and now not taking anything for granted. Sincerely, Mr. Flipper
