Isn't that the picture the GB painted some years ago?

Whoever the "king of the north" may be or not, the GB will just declare one to be in existence. And they will serve him "disturbing reports". Most likely they engage into scenario writing to introduce new doctrines as issuing from God - as announced in 1984.

Perhaps some 30 years later God (GB) will determine the contents of these "reports".

Those upcoming doctrinal changes JWs have to peddle will be so violently infuriating to the general public and politicians that they "will act to destroy Jehovah’s people".

Bunker mentality; Beth Sarim is calling!

Disturbing Reports — And Then the End!

16 This dramatic prophecy concludes: “But there will be reports that will disturb him, out of the sunrising and out of the north, and he will certainly go forth in a great rage in order to annihilate and to devote many to destruction. . . . And he will have to come all the way to his end, and there will be no helper for him.” (Daniel 11:44, 45) These disturbing reports really issue from Jehovah through Jesus Christ. The Scriptures locate God relatively in the north, and he and Christ are symbolically called “kings from the rising of the sun,” the east. (Revelation 16:12; Psalm 48:2; 75:6, 7) But how can these “reports” reach “the king of the north”? Why, through God’s earthly organization, Jehovah’s sanctuary class and their companions of the “great crowd”!

17 God will determine the contents of these “reports.” Whatever their nature, however, they will so infuriate “the king of the north” that he will act to destroy Jehovah’s people. In fact, Satan the Devil, the symbolic Gog of Magog, will maneuver both “the king of the north” and “the king of the south” into his full-scale assault upon God’s true servants. (Ezekiel 38:10-12) But Jehovah’s loyal witnesses need not fear annihilation. The Most High will rescue them, and both kings will be among those destroyed in “the war of the great day of God the Almighty” at Har–Magedon.—Revelation 16:14-16; Ezekiel 38:18-23.

BATS - totally get this and had a similar thought myself earlier this week!

They know the real Armageddon isn't coming and there's no way of "bringing it on". How will end-times prophecy ever be fulfilled? Fulfill their own!

They come out with some batshit crazy (pun intended) doctrine like "3 pedophiles MUST serve on every elder body to provide 'balance'" and ZOOOM! The whole world comes down on them while they scream "PERSECUTION!"

I actually thought of this at last weeks WT study. The conductor asked what it must have been like in 1919(18?) when the WTBTS got locked up and the preaching work almost stopped; How would you react if they arrested the governing body?

For many, something like this would be the most faith-strengthening event that could happen outside of fireballs raining from heaven.

They're just waiting for an excuse to say the great tribulation has started. The nice thing about that (for them) is that they can claim it's the great trubulation and still continue to string jws along indefinitely just like they do now with armageddon...

Didn you hear in the 20st century mankind became like God. We can fly(in planes and rockets), we can also talk using radio waves...need i say more! Armageddon already came and went it was technology, we have left our simpleton ways and have moved on.

Problem is they will have to come up with new light to explain why they are being 'taken out' before Babylon the Great. Nations are to turn on JW's last and then the trib. not other way around. Look at the trouble Rutherford caused for them with Hitler. Somehow I can see them trying this and putting some kind of spin on it.

Evangelical Christians thought they could trigger The Big A with war in Iraq. That fizzled out although traggically over a million humans lost their lives in Bush's Christian Crusade.

Fortunately the GB has no such power.
