taxes on retail fuel sales are one of the biggest money spinners for theAustralian govt/s.
Former PM Fraser started 'world parety pricing' which was bs but a great excuse to tax the daylights out ofthe economy.

Norway has the biggest oil fund in the world, is one of the richest countries, and is a relatively equal society. Somehow I doubt they would swap all that for Riyadh-style 50 cents per litre petrol.
