Is it more accurate to call it a cult or to call it a high control group?

It's more accurate to call it both. It's a high control cult organization

As this thread has been bumped, just had to re-post Mickey Mouses excellent comment from page one. :

"I think it would most accurately be described as something which will bugger up your head and your life."

I personally prefer the term "authoritarian high-control group".

It's kinda wordy, but IMO, far more accurate than "cult" (and is far less likely to trigger any kind of knee-jerk reaction); I think even the GB, if cornered with clear dictionary definitions of all the component words, would be hard-pressed to deny the label.

BTW, it was the realization that the WTS was an "authoritarian high-control group" that finally helped me finally acknowledge its illegitimacy and solidify my fade.
