In the early 1970's my Congregations were pretty strict, although we didn't need Hall Pass to throw a private party. That noose came after I left.
On another note, I have lived in California for 47 years, mostly in Southern California, but also in Northern California, and in all of those 47 year have I EVER heard a long-time Californian call it "Cali." We also don't call it "Frisco" or "Diego" or "Barbara" or "Jose" or "Angeles."
Maybe some of the youngsters now call it that, but I have never heard it.
