Hey Dogpatch, or anyone, who worked at headquarters, are their positions in this Organization, that are exempted from preaching in the field ministry?

Did all Governing Body members obey Jesus Christ commision at (Matthew 28:19,20), are some trying to abdicate this command, reasoning "they are too busy", their position is too lofty, to preach?

    Matthew 28:16-20
    New Living Translation (NLT)
    The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him-but some of them doubted!

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Apparently the GB and bethel are, because surely if they were preaching every other day they would have converted all of NYC.

I believe that Hank Marvin (shadows fame) was...an interview i found on the net, sorry i cant find the link but i am sure other would have it.

serial number is BM-1". It was a beautiful guitar. On the way back to the station, I asked Hank a question which had been troubling me. "Mr Marvin, you are a Jehovah's Witness?" Hank replied "Yes, that's right". I said "I hope you don't mind me asking you a question". Hank replied "No, we're always pleased when people are interested in the religion". I said "Ok, do they let you off knocking on doors on a Sunday because you are so famous". Hank suddenly started to look a little embarrassed. He replied "Well I used to do that, it is part of the commitment you make as a member, everyone has to". He then went on "The trouble was that whenever I knocked on anyone's door, they thought it was Candid Camera playing a practical joke on them and no one would take it seriously. I'd stand there for half an hour trying to explain that there wasn't a camera crew over the road." He went on and explained that it was deemed best all round if he did other work for the church instead.

Hank then dropped us at Radlett Station and we got back to Mill Hill, went to the pub and got plastered. Paul Marvin plays a bit of guitar on the albums in the picture.

Dead JWs, but only after their funeral has been used as a witnessing oppotunity.

    The GB.

Circuit Overseers Wives with interesting health problems.

If by field service, you mean door to door, disabled jws may be doing telephone witnessing, informal witnessing if bedridden, writing letters, having someone bring their bible study to their house.

If you mean none of this, only "weak" jws. I knew a schizophrenic brother that would not take his meds. He was not stable enough to do even the above. I also know a brother than was not df'd and attended meetings, but he had married a non-jw. Now that was never a reason not to allow someone to go door to door, but this BOE made that rule until he groveled enough.

The GB members I knew went door to door, and so do Bethelites. I know that when their work schedules (big printing runs) and when they ran farm operations (planting and harvest busy times) that they were allowed to count some of that time on their slip. But so do those on the building projects at KHs. In my days near Bethel in the 80's, Bethelites were told not to auxiliary pioneer because it interfered with their work at Bethel.

@blondie, that's what I wanted to know, if preaching is done by everyone in the Organization who is physically able. It would be terrible inconsistent if able bodied christians thought this work was beneath them, while telling other's to preach! Your post affirms they all must preach, nice to hear this! thanks again!

This topic was discussed on this thread not too long ago:

Do the Governing Body members ever go Door-to-Door?

The answers were overwhelmingly inconclusive and inconsistent: Some do, some don't, and even those that do don't that much because they've got more important work to do ... unlike the rest of us!
