LOL @ Billy the Ex's comment

When I was fading, I was at the baptism of a young bro that I knew well, he was only about 14 when he got baptised. I quietly told his younger sister, "Don't feel pressured to get baptised just because your bro did. Do it because YOU want to do it, not because anyone makes you feel you have to do it." I'm happy to report she didn't get baptised and is living a happy life outside the JWs!

MrFreeze, your sister is a very lucky young lady to have you. Getting baptised at such a young age is going to put IMMENSE pressure on her as she grows during her teens, but at least she has you on her side.

Baptizing a kid that is not old enough to support themselves financially is no different than infant baptism.

    Good comments everyone.

Yeah Billy, it's kind of ironic that the sister who told me that would often have very visible hair growing on her chin and upper lip. I should have told her to shave her beard first.

My sister has been sending me texts every so often. I think our mother is behind it. Doesn't sound like something she would say. This one was from before she got baptised:

"Hi, we need to talk about the truth and I don't care if its through texting, over the phone, or face to face. This means your life." If my mom sent me that herself I'd just brush it off with all the other crap she says to me. Something about her saying it though... gets to me. Not in a "I'm going to repent" kind of way but more along the lines of "I can't believe my sister is starting to talk like one of them."

"I just wish I could have convinced my sister to not get baptised. She's only 11! How can you make a life-altering decision like that at 11 years old? I did it at 12 so I see where her head is though. "

That's the point......get them to commit to the mind control techniques when they are young!

"I have a small beard as well as long hair and a sister said "You should come back to the meetings. Then we'll work on cutting that beard and trimming that hair." I asked "Why would we have to do that?" "You need to look presentable."

I would have said....."what makes a cleanly trimmed beard unpresentable.....but a bushy mustache like brother so and so ok? Do you have solid scriptural evidence for your opinion or is it based on unscriptural organizational legalism?"

Jesus had a beard and wore a dress. Wasn't that presentable?

  • wha happened?
    wha happened?

or sitting next to brother "I don't take my suits to the dry cleaners as often as I should" in the sun at a DA. He didn't have a beard but smelling like a yeti is perfectly acceptable

Good to hear about your experience going to the assembly. Sorry about your sister. You are right 11 years old is way to young to make a life decision like that. On the news the other day scientist said you become a adult at 23 to 24 years old. The reason for them saying that is your brain stops growing at that time. Just another brick in the wall on why JW's are a cult. They use to preach that child baptism was bad at one time. Now thats all they want to do. If you need to be deprogram because of the one day assembly please come up to our house and the misses and I will help you out. LOL Maybe we can get PaulnotSaul and his wife to come over for you. Just stay close to your sister. She will see you will always be there to help. Take care. Totally ADD

I don't now TotallyADD, that one-day assembly made me realize the evilness of my ways, being a wicked apostate. Why, they even compared anybody who leaves Jehovah's organization to an idiot who thinks it would be fun to jump off of a skyscraper with no parachute. I have now seen the light! Praise Jah!

Thanks Billy; I was beginning to get self-concious about my dress. Thanks for taking the heat off. Can I still wear the wife's bra?
