Minn. school quashes senior's porn-star prom date

A Minnesota school district has quashed a high school's senior plan to bring a porn star to his senior prom.
Mike Stone, 18, had tweeted hundreds of porn actresses with an invitation to the Tartan High School prom May 12 until adult film star Megan Piper accepted his proposal.
Piper tells KSTP-TV's Mark Saxenmeyer that she missed her own prom and couldn't turn down Stone's invitation.
"It was a sweet gesture. It was so cute. I couldn't say no," she tells the Twin Cities TV station
The adult film star adds that she had no intention of turning the evening into a sordid spectacle: "I don't plan to show up butt naked or anything. I'm going to wear a pretty prom dress."
But Patty Phillips, district school superintendent in Oakdale, Minn., isn't waiting to find out. She has issued a written statement making it clear Piper will not be welcome, the Star-Tribune reports.
"This prom date will not be allowed to attend the Tartan prom as her attendance would be prohibited under Tartan's standard prom procedures and would be inconsistent with two school district policies," Phillips writes.
Specifically, a visit can be barred if it is "not in the best interest of students, employees or the school district" or "substantially disrupts the orderly operation of school or school activities."
Stone says he'll hold an alternative party at the same time as the prom so he can bring his dates.
In any case, he tells the The Pioneer-Press , his prom date search has also scored big at Tartan High.
"They chanted my name in the hallways: Mike! Mike! Mike!" he says. "They called me a legend. I have never been called that before."

I never thought I would be able to relate to this as I didn't go to the prom as it was tabboo for JW kids, and during those years I didn't care anyway. Only lately do I look back and feel like I missed something. Oh well.
The school needs to back off on that, and let her attend.

I too used to tell myself I was fine missing my prom. No it isn't a big regret but I am sorry I missed it. When my daughters prom came and she announced she didn't want to go...I was 'oh no you di'n't, you are going, if I have to be your date" haha. I needed to live vicariously thru her getting to do what I didn't get to do.
Turns out she had a great time, and was glad she went.

I assume it would sometimes be allowed to invite a date who isn't a student. If so, I'm concerned about the school making arbitrary judgements like this based on a person's occupation. That seems pretty discriminatory.

Would have been funny if he could have controlled the twitter finger and just showed up with her. LOL What would they have done then? Would they have known? Only when they heard all the guys salivating over it. And it that case, there is plausible deniability, and Mke could have just got all protective and protected her honor.
But I can understand how something as noble and virtuous as the prom could be ruined by a porn star----it distracts a bunch of drunk teens who on a mission to lose their virginity at the overnight party afterward.

Mine was a bust. The band didn't show up, cuz they got the place wrong. When they finally found a fill-in it was midnight, which was the original ending time. Most of the people had left, and the only reason we were there was because my date was just a friend, and my friend's date was just a friend, so we didn't mind chatting and laughing all night.
Lot's of money spent to just laugh all night and dance a few sleepy dances.
