February 1, 2002 I was layed off from my job at Raytheon Aircraft. I was a machinist there for 6 years. They layed off in my department up to and including 12 years of employment. Well, I don't care to ever work there again, even if they call me back later. For a temporary job, I am working at a gas station. I am going back to school later this year to earn a degree in law enforcement. I am also in training for another potential job at a prison near my home.

However, tomorrow I start my new job! So how is that for a fast turn around?

All I can say is it is a good thing I payed off my house last year. So it really does not matter to me how much money I make for the moment. I can survive very easily on gas station wages until I complete my degree if necessary.

BTW, Jessica and I are still getting married March 23, 2002.

    Wish me luck on both!

Is this a light saber in my pocket or am I just happy to see you?

Speaking of career changes, before I worked for Raytheon, I went to school for a Barber's License. And before that I was a janitor and worked for the local news paper as an assistant circulation manager.

So making a career change is nothing new to me. I just know I am sick and tired of being a machinist at an aircraft factory. It is too dirty and very hot in the sumer time. However, the pay was too good for me to quit on my own, so I waited for Raytheon to lay me off.

    Hey Jayhawk,

Congrats! I'm looking for a job myself, and so I know the feeling -- I'll be so relieved when I finally found one! Anyway, good luck with your fiancee and everything.

Wow, this is just like the experience at the assembly where a JW quit his job as a nuclear physicist so that he could get to the book study 15 minutes earlier.

Obviously, God has intervened in your life, blessing you so that you can more fully accomplish your apostacy.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Maybe while at the gas station JWs will stop in and offer me a tract.

    Dedalus, cute kid!
