I remember being interviewed on my Bible reading habits - don't ask me why I was singled out for this, but I was. In any case, when my actual study habits weren't up to what interviewer was hoping for, I was told to relate "what I'd like them to be" as if they actually were, because according to him, "this isn't just an interview - it's a teaching part. We're teaching the brothers what we'd like them to be doing, too."

And on that basis, I stood in front of 1,200 unsuspecting people, and spewed a fabricated version of reality.

At a CA about 1985 or thereabouts I was surprised to see my Best Man, his wife and family on the stage recounting their pioneering days in a foreign country.

I was dumbstruck. I'd known them for years. They'd never left NZ and she was pregnant at the time of their wedding.

I had him on about it after the days session and he was very evasive about it. For some reason I just left it.

Much later I found out that this 'fabrication ' is used often. Seemingly, the experience may actually be true but it is acted out for the assembly by hundreds of, erm...actors to give it that live feel.

    Just nuts.

bigmouth, what you describe is a re-enactment. Here in the US that make it clear that the person telling it was not the person it happened to, like being a newsreporter. Evidently they skipped that point in NZ. The WTS also massages real events, leaving out parts that don't encourage. Such as having a brother tell about placing the featured publication and starting a study and ending there not telling the audience that this account happened months ago and the man stopped studying after visits.

We were interviewed a lot as kids (single dad raising two kids) EVERY time they would have a set of questions and I'd do my best to answer them and the CO or the elder doing the part would re-write my answers to the word.... never what I would have said? OH and home life was far from ideal!

I was on of these members that fabricated stories in order to get on CA podiums.

I once fabricated a story about people in my classes watching porn. I told the CA that I didnt want to watch porn in anyway, that it is immoral and Jehovah hates it. It was an example because I refused the pressuere of my schoolfriends who told me to watch too!

The real truth was that in fact I watched porn every week on my own PC and That I was watching porn with my classmates instead of going away.

I didnt had any regrets about it on the CA, being on the podium got me closer to hot chicks.

True, based in truth, or totally made up, it is not if the story is real as much as how it is used. They use these as "planned spontinaty" it's is a form of mind control that falls under Mystical Manipulation. They use them to prove satan is working against them or Jehovah is working for them.

I cannot suggest enough, learn about Mind Control groups. Steven Hassan has some great information both in books and on his website. Learning about mind control the WBTS really does become transparent, and a joke. I was also able to let go of soo many of the teachings, recognize the mental land mines when they pop up and get rid of them. It has been really freeing for me.

Witness "experiences" are as truthful as the sexual boasts of many young men . . .

I was on a CA 're-enacting' talking to a pal about death and resurrection.

Although I objected to the way the PO re-wrote it I went along with it to 'encourage' others. It didn't sit well as it was too perfect and not at all how it happened. The PO sensationalised it until it became a fictitious tale.

On another CA a young sister who had an unbelieving dad was recounting how she still got to meetings etc despite her dad being abusive and 'persecuting' the family that wanted to go.

    UNTRUE!

The dad was a nice enough bloke. What really hit me was how she could trot out such filthy disgusting lies as her dad lay on his deathbed dying of cancer.

    How bladdy could she????
