Great cheap meat can be had at The Orleans. They have a prime rib dinner in a great room. It's upstairs overlooking the Casino. They also have a much more expensive steakhouse downstairs, but in my opinion, it's not worth the difference in price. Great Chinse food at The Gold Coast next to the Rio. Be prepared to speak to Waiters with little english skills. I just point on the menu. The Italian restaurant at The Monte Carlo is still decnt and reasonable. There's more......

wha happened --- glad you posted about Orleans. They also have a pretty good buffet where you go to each type of food/ethnic and fresh veggies, etc., to build a nice salad if that's your thing. YES, about your Chinese recommendation --- that's the place called Ping Pang Pong/Gold Coast and everyone loves that place --- a favorite restaurant/reasonable, too.

thanks about prime rib info at -- also the Orleans has a TGIF's restaurant that's always packed and decent.

Not cheap, but we really love Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in Mandalay Bay.

And The Craft steakhouse in Excalibur.

Also, in between Mandalay Bay and the Luxor, on the second floor is a Mexican cantina (....starts with an "H", can't remember the name....) that has 2 tacos and a large beer for $5 in the afternoons. Good food.

Palmtree, would it be Hussong's Cantina?

I would agree with I quit!, Border Grill @ Mandalay Bay is also one of my favorites.

Like others have said, it depends on how much you want to spend and how far from the strip you want to go.

palmtree67 -- Puck's restaurant at Mandalay is Italian, Trattoria del Lupo, and it's excellent. wolfgang brought chefs in from the Tuscan region of Italy to train/implement the food. It's delicious, great pasta and good fish, too -- ahhh, had wonderful PIZZA there.

Mix (restaurant) at the top of the Mandalay (or at least go to the bar --- even better view than the restaurant) has an incredible view of the strip.

Mandalay also has the hamburger place (gourmet burgers) where anything imaginable can be put on -- usually there's a line.

whatwasithinking --- Ellis Island used to fly in fresh clam chowder for tailgate parties at the UNLV football games --- so delicious.

    Yes!

    Hussong's!!

    That's the one.

We ate the tacos there one day and another day went back and ordered off the menu. Both meals were good. And not too expensive.

The Craft Steakhouse was AMAZING FOOD!! But our bill at the end was over $800 ( for 4 people ) and we left a $150 tip.......The kind of thing you only do ONCE in a lifetime.....I still have the bill in my wallet - haha!

One place I love to death is in Dowtown at the 4 Queens. It has some seriously great meat and it feels like Mob Las Vegas. They get write ups in all the mags about their wine selection. It's not cheap and bordering on unreasonable but I love the food and the feel. I surprised my wife with a wedding ring upgrade there
