    What is Demonophobia?

Demonophobia is the fear of demons (evil spirits). The origin of the word demon is Greek (meaning demon) and phobia is Greek (meaning fear). Demonophobia is considered to be a specific phobia, which is discussed on the home page. Demonophobia is also called Daemonophobia and related to Bogyphobia (fear of the bogeyman), Satanophobia (fear of Satan, Satanic control or devils), Hadephobia, Stygiophobia and Stigiophobia (which all mean fear of Hell), Wiccaphobia (fear of witches and witchcraft), Phasmophobia (fear of ghosts) and Spectrophobia (fear of specters or ghosts).

    What are the causes?

It is generally accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and internal predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias can be traced back to a specific triggering event, usually a traumatic experience at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry combine with life-experiences to play a major role in the development of phobias. (Wikipedia - phobia).

    What are the symptoms?

As with any phobia, the symptoms vary by person depending on their level of fear. The symptoms typically include extreme anxiety, dread and anything associated with panic such as shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, nausea, inability to articulate words or sentences, dry mouth and shaking. .

    Can I take medicine?

Medicine can be prescribed, but please note that these medications can have side effects and/or withdrawal systems that can be severe. It is also importation to note that medicines do not cure phobias, at best they only temporarily suppress the systems. However, there are treatments for phobias, which include counseling, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic programming. Please click on the link at the top of the page called “Treatment Information” to find out more information on these types of treatments.

Hell! How can you sell a heavy metal music album or horror movie without some Satanic imagery? It's a great marketing ploy. End of story.

If demunz existed, Hollywood would save a bundle on special effects.

No demunz were harmed in the making of this movie.

No demunz were consulted in the making of this movie.

See? Nothing to be concerned about.

All that stuff is just a metaphore for our deepest and darkest thoughts and desires.

    Don't fear metaphores.

None. But what a testament to human imagination. It's all fantasy and creativity. It won't hurt you.

Take Buffy the Vampire Slayer---those story lines were metaphors for growing up---for the most part. At least that is what Joss Whedon says. He still laughs that the first time that Buffy drinks alcohol, she gets attacked by a snake like demon. All metaphor.
