I've had Garmin for years. The only problem I ever had was with a handheld...... it didn't float. I didn't replace it with kurtbethel's Etrex either. That doesn't float too.
I see you can get lifetime updates with Nuvi now. That sounds pretty good to me.
With BlueChart and third party maps, my Nuvi can go pretty much everywhere with me.
