    Update

Funeral was today, no service, closed shop, cremated.

My friend is really disapointed that no way was provided to say good bye to this man. Shocked would be a better word.

I think this is really bad. The family had ended all 'worldly' friends, the non baptised husband too. So he dies at his own hand with nobody to pay respects to him or his family. No kingdom hall service, nothing.

sweep it all under the carpet as fast as can be.

I would bet that with the kingdom hall denied and no true friends, the poor wife had little alternative but to suffer this indignity.

A JW I knew threw himself in front of a train. After a lot of debate , the BOE decided to hold a KH service as there was a tiny degree of doubt that he might accidentally walked in front of the train so the BOE ( after consulting with the Branch ) decided they had a degree of latitude in giving a KH funeral.

Usually suicides are not given a KH funeral , but the Question from Readers 2002 did leave the possibility open.

Depending on the general attitude toward suicide in the locality, and particularly toward the case involved, the elders may prefer not to sponsor such a funeral publicly or to have it in the Kingdom Hall.

Still, if a Christian minister is asked to preside at the funeral, he may feel that on a private basis, he can do so. If he decides to do so, he should be discreet in not making any firm statements about whether a resurrection might be possible. Any future prospect for the dead is in the hands of Jehovah, and no one is in a position to say whether the deceased will be resurrected or not. The minister can concentrate on the Bible truths about death and offer comfort for the bereaved.

From details i have gleaned, there was no possibility of it being an accident.

When i told my friend i seriously doubted a KH funeral by JWs he did not really beleive me. He thought they were still 'honorable' even after shit i tell him.

He rang today with the news and just said ''well, you were right''... very disapointed man.

again, shame on you jehovah's Witnesses. Another person that will not give you the time of day next time you call. you make many sick.

No good news to be had here . . .

I just hope the family sees through this and re-thinks things for their own sakes

A well worded submission of sympathy and honour for this man by your friend to the family might wake them up perhaps? . . . his call, but just a suggestion.

I feel sick about it Oz . . . but moreso really sad for the family . . . it's just bloody heartbreaking.

My mate is actually organizing a wake.

The guy that died touched a good many people in his automotive field and these guys want a chance to honor him.

How ironic that a bunch of 'worldly' car enthusiasts want to pay repaect to a man who was on his way to JWness, and who help opposing views to them all, yet the very community that claimed him, and that he 'was one of' (his own words) fails to do do anything.

I have been following this thread Oz. What a sad bunch of pricks them Jonadabs really are.

My kudos goes to the car enthusiasts and you can give his family my condolences from a NZ car nutter. PM me if you want a name to put to that.

I have been to a funeral talk in a KH for someone who committed suicide. The elder who gave the talk quoted a Watchtower which stated that a suicide victim is a casualty of the manslayer Satan. It struck me as quite a departure from the stigma that once attached to suicide and mental illness generally.
