Yes, this is a huge relief and at the very least I feel like I have some closure. It would be nice if she would relax her stance on communication, but like some of you said, that might happen over time.

wonderful, headisspinning,,it's wonderful your mother is giving a listening ear and giving respect and understanding to you. As we age, being able to look at our grown children and see them "happy" gives us fulfillment.
