When you invest your security in something and it is threatened you react with anger.

Any set of beliefs held dear provide a strong sense of security.

Those beliefs are regarded as very real.

ANYTHING which serves to DISPROVE the reality of a belief is regarded a a LARGE THREAT to one's way of life.

    Example:

Muslims believe ALLAH has given them the only Truth among all religions on Earth.

Yet they see their enemy, the Jews, prospering with a Democracy, transforming deserts into farmland, possessing technology, a free society

a long history of great productivity in Literature, Science, Business, etc.

The Muslim society is backward, oppressive and naive by comparison.

Consequently, radical Muslims see Judiasm as a THREAT OF DISPROOF to their belief as God's chosen people.

Two choices: Admit they may NOT be what they say they are.

    Or..

DESTROY that which disproves their own belief system.

The Gods that humans worship are violent. Many believe we are made in God's image.

I like the "Threat of Disproof" idea Terry.

I've always found it interesting that every religion has it's "boogey-man" group, the arch nemesis. Catholics have Protestants, Jews have Muslims, Shia has Sunni, and the GodDamn Watchtower has what? It has everybody. Damn disfunctional Watchtower can't even get the "boogey-man" thing right.

Well.... If you thought you had a message from the Great and Wonderful Supreme One, and people wouldn't listen to it, much less obey...

It would be an affront to your dignity. Here you are giving of yourself for their benefit and they're a) ignoring you, b) laughing in your face, or c) persecuting you. It would be an affront to your God. (See a, b, and c above.) Then some fool comes along and tries to say that his god is better than your God....and the fight begins.

See what your saying, don't mean to flog a dead horse. However, most of these religions in their beginnings were benevolent, even tolorant toward others belifes. Especialy Christianity, or so we have been lead to belive. What happened? Were we mislead?

Israel sweep into the promised land rapping, pillaging, bulndering all before them, Muslims surged out of Arabia putting all to the swoard that did not convert. Christians spent 100 yrs, or more conquering Palistine murdering Jew and Muslim. Then each other. All in the name of God and Holy Writ, Why? Why is religion the epicenter of so much murder and destruction?

Because of the sustenance of power obtained from the gods directed to procuring individuals,

kind of statue of validation and power.

In ancient times when one civilization conquered another civilization that didn't worship their

particular god it showed who's god was of greater strength and who was in control and retainment of that strength.

DESTROY that which disproves their own belief system.... ( Terry )... So, we don't WAIT on God to seperate, take the matter into our own hands. Slaguhter the infiedel. Not as God's insterment, being God ourself?

The Gods that humans worship are violent. Many believe we are made in God's image....( Pontoon )...Again we become God, we judge, we execute, we destroy. Why should we have a God at all?

I like the "Threat of Disproof" idea Terry...me too. I've always found it interesting that every religion has it's "boogey-man" group, the arch nemesis....( Sooner )...Lets make up an idealology to anchor ourselfs too. No need for God, No need for edicts, or commands from God. Lets beGod , thin the hered , live in that promised land.

Well.... If you thought you had a message from the Great and Wonderful Supreme One, and people wouldn't listen to it, much less obey....( AnneB )...There you go again. We're God, WE make the decisions WE smite the heathen, cast out the apostate .

'Judgement'... ( Design )...Of course, No matter what any Holy Writ says. Save time, do God's work, don't let God's way get in our way. We'll do the judging dirty work on our own. No need for the Creator to worry, God can take it easy, rest, leave all in our capable hands, after all that's what we were created for wasen't it?

In ancient times when one civilization conquered another civilization that didn't worship their particular god it showed who's god was of greater strength and who was in control and retainment of that strength...( thetreuone )...Thre you go then, As good a reason as any to be violent with our religon.

CONCLUSION : Religion is a sham, don't need it for our slice of heaven, don't need God, or a saviour. All we need is ourselfe's. Little god's running to and fore murduring and doing violence aginst those that don't agree, or fit OUR concept of right and wrong.

GOD.... YOUR OUT OF A JOB. TAKE YOUR SHINGLE DOWN, ALL YOUR HOLY WRIT AND GO HOME. YOUR NOT NEEDED. WE DO WHAT WE DO IN OUR NAME NOT YOURS.....

    1. Quentin, grow up and develop your brain!

    2. If you are trying to be sarcastic, I don't get it. If not, go to point 1.
