It seems to me that if people were taught reasoning skills they would be immunized to cults like the Witnesses. School should teach reasoning. Mere recitation of facts is not sufficient today. Sadly, the difference between public school and private school students was striking in my freshman English class. The skill could be taught in a neutral way.
I also believe students need to learn civics and how to budget and write business letters. Also, I am so tired of school quality being tied to property values and taxation. It results in de facto segmentation into careers. Side issue.
