  On tolerance, isn't there a case to be made for intolerance? Not in the negative, racist/sexist/ageist/homophobic sense but rather, if a cultural practice (like female genital mutilation) or a religious dogma (like WT blood or shunning policies) actually causes harm then what's wrong in saying that you will NOT tolerate that?

  On the isolation of JW kids from Xmas/birthday/thanksgiving celebrations etc, shouldn't teachers tell JW parents, "sorry, your teachings are inhuman, we will not accomodate them".

  Let's hear it for intolerance I say.

  sad but true, "cultural diversity" pretty much mean you go by the standard set by the most bat-shit insane religion. i dont see any easy solution though: the indoctrinated will just pull their kids out of satans schools if anyone try to enforce sanity.

  i say remove their tax-excempt status and require a person who preach in a place of worship to have an higher education in religious studies at an accredited university.

  Nothing like stirring the 'persecution' complex to make people think they have the 'truth.'

  What about Muslims and Jews who also don't celebrate Christmas?

  I guess I am torn on this issue. Since most schools are state and federally funded in the US, it would seem appropriate for them to be as neutral as possible on these matters. Of course, I would love it if they still celebrated holidays like they did when I was little.

  Well, truthfully, if we're speaking about tolerating one another's culture/religion.. then if schools are going to celebrate things such as Christmas, then they should also celebrate things such as Hanukah and the rest.

  Celebrate them all (providing there is a child who is of that faith in the school) or celebrate none of them. In the public school systems, anyway. Private schools that cater to certain faiths should be free to celebrate only their own.
