Stevenson, in his book 1975 - Year of Doom? summed it up one sentence:

" no other religious group demands so much of its members, in return for so little."

    Nailed dead nuts!

Was this ever a good religion to be in?

Absolutely not for it was created on a foundation of twisted ignorance and cunning deception which circumvented the distribution of

the WTS own published literature. If this is the core frame work of this religion how it could possibly become " a good religion " ?

These pretentious owners of god earthly kingdom exploited people to create a sense of power and control for themselves

which eventually leads to cultivating monetary wealth. Its a religion built on corrupt and dishonest integrity, carried through on a supporting

pretentious image of spiritual righteous virtue.

Its a man made kingdom built by men for men and nothing else.

good morals and values, and emphasize a good family life

Every group teaches those. The morals vary between cultures, as do the definitions of a good family life.

Anyone who uses psychological warfare to force a family member to admit to believing that an all knowing/perfect god created his most advanced species without any means of procreation is totally devoid of any moral high ground in my book.

Was this ever a good religion to be in? Depends. If you enjoy a life of totally-dominated blissful ignorance, operating under the impression that you are part of the most special group of people on the planet and look forward to a near-future event where little children die horrific deaths... Yeah, I think I know some people who dig that idea.

This fellow describes how religion becomes what it is and its direct effect on to people.

Religions are inanimate, they are nothing other than what the people practicing them are.

If the people are good, then the religion will be good, even if it starts of in a questionable way.

I think the good parts of the orginal Bible students was that they believed in learning the bibel for themselves, not taking anyone's word for it, being responsible for their own understanding.

That got revised quicker than Charlie Sheens pants coming off at a porn convention.

The silliness of the doomsday crap aside, which is hard to put aside but leys try, the whole bibel study group thing and learning together thing, has a nice, warm, family sound to it.

It didn't work out that way.

The whole no hierarchy thing was also good, for the little time it lasted.

In short, Man tends to undermines himself very easily when POWER becomes apparent for the taking.

Man tends to undermines himself very easily when POWER becomes apparent for the taking.

With the attaching responsibility of operating and managing a large publishing company (WTS.)

indiscreet corruption is a undeniable probability, injurious to people who are lured toward it.

    Good point PSacramento
