I think the reason you didn't get any doom and gloomers, is that most of us know better. Whenever a JW comes in here with their "terrible times" statement, they get hit with a barrage of facts that contradict their programming. They usualy leave in a hurry.
JanH once had a post with a link to facts about the 14th century. It was a horrendous period. If that didn't fulfill scripture, nothing will.
