Gregor, if their motive is to help people in the community, why would they have to publicly claim their donation? Left hand not know what the right hand is doing..........

correct. From what I have read so far this entire affair is unconfirmed and no details as to exactly what, if anything, was occuring. Doesn't sound like it involved material aid like canned food or clothing. The WTS would only be interested if it was cash money.
This highlights another inconsistency of the WT org. that used to niggle at me when I was a witness. Namely, how convieniently they ignore the point of the parable of the good Samaritan. He was "good" because he gave real, practical assistance, including $ to a distressed man of a different faith.
