This totally explains the overlapping generation. The car starts out with a gererator but by now has been replaced by an alternator. the overlapping power supply to keep the lights getting brighter.

Loved your illustration. It both fit the material and your audience. You get two g's and move to the next counsel point.

I think of Watchtower Theology as being like the woman who can't get enough plastic surgery.

    Something is always being Nipped......Tucked.....enhanced......removed....filled in....filled out....CHANGED!

We are supposed to see her as the SAME.....only....improved.

But, who can really deny the distortions? Who can pretend---and for how long---that this isn't more mania and desperation than mere fine-tuning of an already perfect thing?

This religion started out as Christianity. Then, nipped and tucked itself into Adventism. Then, they had a chronology job and a pyramid enhancement and became a cult.

Don't forget that everybody responsible for the journey, from the driver to the tour guide, just happens to be a lawyer who has never read the vehicle's owner manual, and no mechanics are kept on staff for the journey. Also, they claim to have the world's best (truly, the only functional) GPS system, except that it constantly needs software patches and yet the bus is still continually going in circles. Not only that, but they have no plans for what happens when the bus breaks down outside of the vague hopefulness that one of the passengers might know how to change the oil or rotate the tires.

And when the bus needs a tune-up, they expect a free one from a non-profit garage but forbid their passengers from even purchasing their own cars, much less allowing them to see any outside mechanics as all mechanics are corrupt and working together to rip you off.

No pun intended but we sure are getting some mileage out of this analogy!

    Terry,

They didn't change the reading, and they never CLAIMED to change the odometer - WE were the ones who said the gauge read "144,000" in 1975. The odometer reading was only a few thousand in 1914 and the Bible Students ALWAYS said so!

Terry, can I cut and paste this into end of the year newsy letters to some old JW aquaintances? I'll give you FULL credit, by name, too.

A JW could die laughing from the sick truthfulness of it all, as you have created the perfect tragic short comedic story for JWs.
