I looked this up just now and came up with this list:

Following are the religions that no longer exist.

    1. SUMERIAN RELIGION
    2. BABYLONIAN RELIGION
    3. ASSYRIAN RELIGION
    4. EGYPTIAN RELIGION
    5. GREEK RELIGION
    6. MITHRAISM AND ROMAN RELIGION
    7. GERMANIC AND NORSE RELIGION
    8. MAYA RELIGION

If this list is accurate, that really doesnt make me feel hopeful that the JW religion might someday be brought down. These religions are no doubt very, very old, and probably just small offshoots from some other mainstream belief system.

Thanks to the invention of the printing press and corporations, religions can just keep on moving from one generation to the next.

Also Heaven's Gate, and AFAIK Branch Davidians

The Branch Davidians are still kicking (though they disclaim David Koresh): http://www.the-branch.org/index.php

I had thought Heaven's Gate was wiped out, but their website is still running, so someone must be managing and hosting it: http://www.heavensgate.com/

And the worship of Zeus is experiencing a revival: http://www.smh.com.au/news/travel/modern-pagans-worship-illegally-in-athens/2007/01/22/1169330798194.html

Spain's General Franco, however, is still dead.

Shakers are all gone now, aren't they?

Of course, their policy on reproduction might have had a wee bit to do with that....

Mamalove- All those religions on your list still have people who believe, at least in the Gods and Goddesses of old.

Paganism is growing all the time.

only me ... this is quite true. Monotheism is unbalanced and does not appeal to many. It was one of my biggest issues in the studies. Christianity is very male dominated with a thread of disdain for women. This never sat right with me.

The "Shakers" (The United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearing) have come very close.
