Funny! The questions state the facts in a shocking way. And that dialog box with the "Wrong! You Unsaved Moron" message just craked me up.

Shame, shame, posting such stuff! Sure, it claims to be a baptist site. I can smell a baptist a mile away. I have a sharp nose, you know, and i smell no baptists here. Sure they quote the bible, but they are using the truth in a twisted way. heh heh Are you on my payroll, or what?

Probably not as many as we slaughter so we can eat at macdonalds.

A lot of them. They did what God did not want.

    9. How many soldiers did God burn to death with fire from Heaven because they confronted Elijah?
A Lot of them. They went against God and the one he chose.

    10. By the time God gets through with his killing spree, how many dead will there be?
A lot of them. Guess we should give honor to the one who made us.

Comment: Those who's lives God took knew of him and his people. The word got around. Read Joshua.
Rahab said "The fear of you is in all the land and we have heard what your God did to the egyptians at the Red Sea".

Seems to me they all had a chance to choose for them and their offspring.

    Gumby,

problems here. Some people read these accounts in the bible and find it to be inconsistent with their inner sense of justice, they then assume God must be right, and let the matter rest. But your post seems to attempt to justify the acts of killing, as if they need some justification in the minds of those that believe them to have been done by God. By attempting to explain, you seem to say you understand God's justice, you seem to imply that there's some logic in the acts which your humanity understands and identifies with. There's a problem there, because many 'decent' people will not agree with you. Even in cases where people have proved to be worthy of death by our human standards, discussions abound about humane ways of inflicting the capital punishment.

Accounts of prophet Samuel hacking the guilty to pieces before God, 70,000 Israelites dying because of a mistake by King David, soldiers being burnt to death because of opposing a prophet, and a warrior supported by God killing men, women, children and livestock simply do not meet with the current perception of justice by many decent people. You claim to understand why they happened, but your reason seems to be that they were warned, that they had a chance. Perhaps you would want to make one understand better how it is that the justification for the acts is very clear to you, and how it meets with your sense of justice that the children of guilty adults should suffer the same fate as their parents.

You don't think that the punishments were a bit harsh for a "god of love"?

Gozz: "But your post seems to attempt to justify the acts of killing, as if they need some justification in the minds of those that believe them to have been done by God"
My answer is from what I feel the bible teaches. God has the RIGHT , to demand worship and obeidiance from those he made.

SS: ..In the biblical record, how many people did satan kill? I rest my case.

If satan promotes actions against God...as the bible say's he does... then he and those who do the things he advocates are self responsible

It's handy to have a satan to blame for all the deaths, instead of an omniscient god, isn't it? Of course 'satan' gets no defence, no voice other than what the bible gives him, and the bible is gods book, gods 'case' according to christians. See how lopsided it is, if there really is a devil? The origin of the theory of the universal contest between good and evil is zerostrian.
