Here's the notes from this year's Annual Meeting. I saw that elderelite posted a couple of highlights from it on another thread over a week ago.

I did a search for "Annual Meeting" and couldn't find comprehensive notes from this year.

MODS: If someone has already posted these, feel free to delete this thread.

    Enjoy!

    October 2, 2010 ANNUAL MEETING

Song No. 75 Our Reasons For Joy
    Prayer: Angelo Catanzaro

JEHOVAH’S CHARIOT IS ON THE MOVE
    Stephen Lett, Chairman

2 Samuel 15:3 says that Absalom was trying to usurp the kingship from his father, David. He even had a royal chariot made for himself (vs 1), with 50 men running before him. Although impressive to men, compared with Jehovah’s glorious, fear-inspiring chariot, it is a sluggish, miniscule, clumsy rattletrap. Jehovah’s chariot described at Ezekiel 1 represents the heavenly part of Jehovah’s organization. Who is the rider? Jehovah, who lovingly directs every move of the organization as it carries out his will and purpose. Horses moved Absalom’s chariot but how is Jehovah’s chariot impelled? Ezekiel 1:20 answers, “Wherever the spirit inclined to go, they would go.” This same holy spirit directs his cherubs and the wheels, whose rims are full of eyes (vs. 18). This indicates that the chariot is not going blindly or running wild, but has intelligent supervision. There are two parts to his organization, the heavenly and the earthly. If the heavenly part is directed by holy spirit, then the earthly part must be also, since it is a reflection of the heavenly part. By being obedient we show we keep pace with the chariot. At what speed can Jehovah’s chariot move? Absalom’s chariot ran about 45 mph, the speed of a race horse. Vs 14 says of the celestial chariot that "there was a going forth and a returning as with the appearance of lightning." The World Book Encyclopedia says that the speed of a stroke of lightning is 93,000 miles per second. Of course, this is used as an illustration, because it really goes much faster—at the speed of thought, Jehovah’s thought, which is inconceivably fast. We cannot see into the heavenly realm, but it is amazing when we see how fast things are happening on earth during these last days. Let’s review what has happened in the last five years.

® In 2006 US Bethelites began to be reassigned to the field, which has proven to be a real blessing to their new congregations.
® The Awake! began to be printed monthly.
® In 2007 we added 5 to 9 part, fast-moving symposiums to our district conventions.
® Also in 2007 the Coordinator’s Committee of the Governing Body replaced the Chairman’s Committee.
® In 2008 we began to receive Watchtower study editions, alternating with the public issues.
® The School for Congregation Elders began.
® In 2009 meetings were combined to free up a night for Family Worship.
® Printing was discontinued in the Italy and Spain Branches and was transferred to Germany and Britain. This allowed for a reduction in the number of Bethelites.
® In 2010 official recordings of the special assembly day, circuit assembly and district convention began to be provided for ones whose circumstances made them unable to attend.
® The School for Congregation Elders was moved from Bethel to the field.
® The Administration Offices were dissolved with all correspondence to be handled by the six Governing Body Committees.
® Canada began to print all of the English and Spanish magazines for the US and Canada. ® This is not counting the clarifications of doctrinal issues such as the generation, the explanation regarding a baby that dies in the womb—with the possible hope of a resurrection, and the illustrations of the dragnet, leaven and mustard seed.
® Recent moves to consolidate branches, such as: Alaska (2006) and Hawaii (this Sept 1) came under the supervision of US. In 2009 Luxemburg merged with Germany.

Why are these “mergers” being done? There are many advantages and the greatest is providing spiritual benefits. Greater unity is produced, further separating us from Satan’s world. Fewer branch locations allow the Governing Body more time to provide the needed oversight, and Branch Committees are strengthened by using experienced men from diverse backgrounds. It also results in fewer zone visits and branch construction projects. Their traveling overseers can be shared, and experienced brothers can be assigned where they are most needed. Selling underutilized equipment, buildings, and property allows funds to be reallocated where they are most needed. Tens of millions of dollars have already been saved and even more in operating costs will be saved.

What other changes in branches are in progress or slated for the future? By Nov. 1, 2010, all six of the Central American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama) will be consolidated under the Mexico Branch. The total number of Bethelites caring for these countries will decrease from 300 to only 75. By Jan. 1, 2011, Ireland will come under Britain Branch; Cyprus under Greece; Czech Republic under Slovakia; Austria and Switzerland under Germany; Iceland under Denmark; Antigua under Barbados; French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Reunion under France; Togo under Benin. Does this mean there will be no more new branches in the future? No. Serbia and Macedonia were established a month ago. Why? Each week the Governing Body prayerfully evaluates how best to use Christ’s belongings. Decisions are made case by case. The determining factor is not what is the most efficient, but what will best promote Kingdom interests. So, continue to pray for the Governing Body to make good decisions. As the representative of the slave, they will not only be faithful but also discreet in making wise decisions. Jehovah’s chariot is on the move. There are several more exciting maneuvers that will be discussed. By the end you will say this was a theocratic, history-making Annual Meeting.

    HAITI Tab Honsberger

On January 12 of this year our lives in Haiti changed drastically as a devastating earthquake rocked the country for 35 seconds. The rocking continues; but in a positive way. Haggai 2:7 says, “I will rock all the nations, and the desirable things of all the nations must come in.” By means of the Kingdom message Jehovah continues to rock the nations, including Haiti, and honest-hearted ones are streaming in. It is heartwarming to see many young ones are taking their stand for the truth.

Young Darlene attended a number of meetings, though she could not understand anything because she is deaf. A sister showed interest in Darlene, and a deaf pioneer sister began to study with her. She learned about Jehovah’s promises as she learned ASL (American Sign Language). Quickly Darlene’s disposition changed from a sad, lost soul to a happy girl grinning from ear to ear. In fact she progressed more quickly than her sister and mother who are not handicapped, and she is now baptized.

A brother in Port-au-Prince spoke with a young girl at a door, who listened. Then another child came, and another, and soon all nine in the family were listening, including the parents. The father, who is a policeman, decided the family needed a study, and they began to attend meetings, although it is a 45 minute walk each way. The two oldest boys and one girl are now baptized. Another girl is an unbaptized publisher and the younger ones are making the truth their own. The mother continues to progress and the father too is looking for new employment, since he knows that in the New World he will be out of a job.

Noah, 11, is the only one in the truth in his family. He was baptized in July. When asked what his parents think of this, he said they commend him because he isn’t like other children, but he really listens and obeys his parents. His spiritual goals are to be a ministerial servant, then an elder.
Many congregations here must hold their meetings in two sessions as the attendance surpasses the 250 mark. Christendom teaches people that God is using the earthquake to punish them for their sins; that the 300,000 men, women and children who died were wicked and God protected the faithful. They seem to forget about the 4,000 inmates in jail who escaped when the walls of the prison collapsed. The people are comforted when they hear the truth that such disasters are part of the sign of the last days and soon there will be a paradise.

Haiti is known as the “pearl of the Caribbean” with beaches and turquoise waters. But the real beauty of Haiti is the people, the resilient Bible-loving people. Immediate medical and housing needs were quickly supplied to our brothers. Worldly humanitarian organizations stand in awe and try in vain to imitate us. As we were making some little houses in our workshop for the people, a priest came in and stood in disbelief. Another man said, “If the whole country were run by Jehovah’s Witnesses, it would be a better place.” He didn’t know that we are empowered by holy spirit. 154 brothers died and 10,000 brothers were affected by the quake. How are they faring? We’ll let Jerome explain. Jerome is a brother who lost his wife, and his son was severely injured. He himself was also trapped several hours in the rubble of his house. He admitted, “I shed tears to this day over the loss of my wife. I don’t know how long the tears will continue to fall. But I rejoice at the brotherly love shown, a visible mark of the organization. Today thousands have lost loved ones and have no hope and do not know where to turn. The difference is I have the hope of seeing my dear ones again. It is my firm determination to share the good news of the kingdom and the sure hope of living in paradise promised by Jehovah.” Many of you gave financially to the relief work. Some came and helped; the Governing Body and others directed the work and many thousands helped by their prayers. Many branches also assisted, especially the Dominican Republic. 16,000 of your brothers in Haiti say, “Merci en pil” (Creole for ‘Thanks heaps’).

    PHILIPPINES Mark Sanderson

Psalm 97:1 says “Jehovah has become King…let the many islands rejoice.” 7,107 islands make up the Philippines and we are rejoicing. We have had 32 consecutive peaks in publishers. The latest was in August, with 171,910 publishers, 6% increase over last year. There is great potential with 183,257 Bible studies. This trend of having more Bible studies than publishers results with congregations filled with interested ones. Only five years ago the Philippines had 144,738 publishers, so they have increased by 27,000 publishers. These are not just numbers, but they represent people. Who are responding?

Miguel is a faithful brother who suffered tragedy when his grandson was murdered. He worked hard so that the authorities took action against the murderer, who was sent to prison. One day, he was invited by another brother to go witnessing in a prison. It was a hard thing to do, as he knew his grandson’s murderer was in that prison, but he accepted. While Miguel was conducting a study in the prison, Esmer, his grandson’s murderer, came in and walked toward Miguel. Miguel was afraid for his life but acted quickly. He said, “Esmer, I came here not to quarrel. What occurred would not have happened to my grandson if you had known the Word of God.” Esmer stayed and listened. He even confessed that he did kill his grandson and asked his forgiveness. The elder did not know what was really going on so he asked Miguel to study with Esmer who appeared interested. Although doubting Esmer’s sincerity, Miguel agreed. He saw gradual transformation as the Word of God pierced through Esmer and they even became close friends. Miguel told him, “I have forgiven you.” In February of this year he was baptized. Although the lawyer finds it unbelievable, Miguel is now working to help get Esmer released from prison early.

We rejoice that permission was given for audio recordings of the new songs in the seven languages translated at the branch. This is an enormous task. How could this be done? Because of the similarities in the different languages, it was decided to use one choral group. They learn and record one song, then they go on to the next language and learn and record that same song. In this way, recordings have been made in six languages in less than five months. Translators assisted in giving pointers to the singers, and those who have heard the recordings thought native speakers had sung the songs. We hope to release Disc I on jw.org in all seven languages in the near future. The Governing Body has also granted permission to make audio recordings of The Watchtower in Tagalog starting 1/2011. This will help Filipino brothers not only here, but who are scattered around the world.

Many were deeply moved by the program at the 96 Keep on the Watch district conventions that were held. One worldly man wrote a letter at the end of his first convention, “As the third day is drawing to a close, I have concluded one unarguable truth: Jehovah’s Witnesses see clearly with an unobstructed view the world’s happenings and future. I am convinced you preach the truth.” One police station wrote to congratulate the brothers on the success of the convention, saying, “It was an honor and privilege to be part of your celebration…Good examples to all…Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, well done and may Jehovah continue to bless and guide us in all our endeavors.”

Isaiah 42:12 says, “Let them attribute to Jehovah glory, and in the islands let them tell forth even his praise.” There are 480 Bethelites.

    GET ACQUAINTED INTERVIEWS Mark Noumair

Interview of three helpers to the Governing Body and their wives

    Alex & Sarah Reinmueller.

Alex: He was raised in the truth. The 1969 ‘Peace on Earth’ International Convention had a big impact. At ten years of age, his family had newly immigrated to Canada from Austria. Though not having much money they rented a tent trailer and headed to Buffalo, NY for the convention. It was hot and they camped in a muddy parking lot, but his large family was there for all eight days, clean and well behaved, for the most part. This experience impressed him and he dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized the next year at age 11. A significant turning point was when he began pioneering at 15. Naturally shy and the only pioneer in the congregation, he spent many long hours in service alone. He would ride his bicycle to the territory an hour each way. He had few return visits and studies, so he was usually going door to door in a territory with many not at homes. But in this way he learned to draw close to Jehovah by talking to him a lot in prayer. His relationship grew when he came to Bethel, where he has been for 32 years. He struggled with his naturally shy personality especially when he was transferred from Canada to Brooklyn in 1995. A positive influence in his life was developing friendships with older brothers at Bethel, especially Richard Abrahamson, Dan Sydlik and Lee Waters. Conversations with Richard were like drinking from a deep well. His love for the scriptures, history and story telling were refreshing and a source of practical guidance. Dan Sydlik and Lee Waters were in the same congregation with him. Dan helped him gain confidence, saying, “Speak up, Al. We don’t need ‘yes’ men. We need men of courage to stand up for their convictions.” Alex doesn’t know anyone who used the scriptures as well as Brother Waters to get ones motivated to do what they should. These three became true friends.

Sarah: She was raised in the truth by her mom in California, but a turning point was when she was 11. She had planned on just swimming and taking it easy that summer, but her mother suggested that she should read one of the older publications, and she chose Babylon the Great Has Fallen. After working through some heavy-duty prophecies, she recalled thinking, “This really is the truth! No one could make this up. Jehovah is the true God and he must love us to go to all this trouble.” She made her dedication to Jehovah, and was baptized at a young age. One sister who had a positive impact on her was Nancy Yuen, a close friend of the family. Her zeal for the ministry and her reliance on Jehovah was outstanding. She helped her to learn to be prayerful in every aspect of life. When she was finished with her schooling, there was an economic downturn and jobs were scarce. One hundred people, some with PhD degrees, were applying for one part-time job. Nancy told her to be specific in her prayer, so she prayed to Jehovah about the hours and the salary she needed. She got the job with the exact hours and salary. When she came to Bethel she remembers that Russell Kurzen told her that in the early days Bethel was set up for brothers in mind, and now we are making adjustments since we love having you sisters here. There are some challenges, but prayer has remained a lifeline. Always the blessings outweigh the challenges. Traveling around the world on assignments and making friendships has been a truly amazing experience.

    David & Krista Schafer.

David: There were some friends and family that were bad examples. Sometimes he would go to his mom and say Jehovah had given clear direction to his specific prayers and she would say she was asking for the same thing; so he wasn’t sure whose prayer Jehovah was listening to. He realized Jehovah blesses whole-souled devotion and he dedicated his life to him. Three brothers in the congregation, loggers by trade, cleaned up their lives when they came in the truth. They would pick him up for service after school, helping him to auxiliary pioneer. Pioneer School solidified his desire to make pioneering a career and many from his school are still at it. He had to face an obstacle when he was at Bethel only one year. He learned his brother was terminally ill and that would create a heavy responsibility for his mother. That same week Brother Sydlik had told his team on the Bindery line that if anyone wanted to talk to him, stop by. He called and asked if he could talk to him, and Brother Sydlik asked if it was an emergency. He paused and said, “No.” But Brother Sydlik said to come up at 4 p.m. He was helped to reason it out and appreciated the conversation. He has been here 22 years.

Krista: She was also raised in the truth. There were challenges when her father left her mother with five young kids when Krista was only a few months old. Her mother was loyal to the organization and was determined that they did not miss meetings. Jehovah became real to Krista when she was four-years-old, and her grandfather died. That was when she first prayed. She felt empty, but thought of the resurrection and that was a comfort. She prayed that Jehovah would help her cope and that she would make good decisions. When she was nearing the end of high school, she prayed specifically about whether to continue her education as she was experiencing pressure. The next day a teacher, who had been pressuring her to go on to college approached Krista and told her she had arranged for her to work part time in her husband’s insurance office, allowing time for pioneering. She pioneered out of school and originally had missionary service as a goal. Her grandmother would read her letters she received from a missionary sister in Peru. Here is one excerpt: “We got new territory, so I’m happy for that…I had seven studies when I returned and have six more now.” So many need to hear about Jehovah and we need to do all we can to help them. Serving now as a “home missionary” in an Albanian field has helped fulfill that desire. What did Bethel teach her? To be faithful in what is least. Until recently she had worked in housekeeping. She had ones in responsible positions live in rooms on her assignment. They never used that as an excuse not to follow Bethel guidelines. Jenny Jackson taught her to appreciate that when your husband is used in Jehovah’s service, never complain, and never hold him back.

    Robert Ciranko & Ketra.

Bob is a third generation Witness, raised by Witness parents. All of his four grandparents were anointed. They were humble Hungarian immigrants who learned the truth in Ohio from Bible Students. They were totally loyal to Jehovah and his organization. In 1955 his father took the family to Europe on a tour of international conventions. What stood out in his eight-year-old mind was Nuremberg where an assembly was held on Hitler’s parade grounds. Hitler had vowed to annihilate Jehovah’s Witnesses but we were 100,000 in mass. The 1958 assembly in New York City had ¼ of a million in attendance. These large gatherings showed that the truth was much bigger than himself or his hometown congregation. In 1965 when he was at the end of his schooling, the Vietnam War was still going on and he faced the draft board. He could get an exemption if he was serious about service, otherwise he could get a three year prison sentence. He had to put on paper how he really felt, his Bible based beliefs, the reasons for being a conscientious objector, etc. He had been baptized when he was eleven, but the truth became his own when he filled out that form. Every year for six years the draft board checked up on him to see that he was still pioneering. He was invited to serve in the circuit work in 1975 as a young, single man. But he wanted to get married so he prayed long and hard about this and in 1978 he met and married Ketra. Jehovah helped him find a good mate. They have served 32 years together in circuit and district work and at Bethel. To stay in full time service they put off having children, which was a sacrifice. But they hope this desire will be filled in the New World.

Ketra: She grew up in a small congregation in central Illinois where it was common to only have eight at a meeting. She was the only Witness in school and would have to take her stand alone. She saw clearly the difference between true and false religion early and that the truth gave her a hope that others did not have. She was baptized when she was 13. She made the truth her own when she began pioneering at a larger congregation where it was apparent some things were just not right. Eventually apostasy came to light. Some did not like field service, and especially pioneers. After serious prayer she reaffirmed in her heart that this was Jehovah’s organization and the need to be loyal. She applied to be a special pioneer, which was possible at that time, and was assigned to another congregation in Minnesota. This congregation was a spiritual paradise, and her faith was strengthened. There was a fine body of elders and peace in the congregation, yet she was alone and also praying for a mate. Circuit and District work was challenging, but she found out what a blessed people we are to belong to a wonderful brotherhood. They have fond memories of living with friends in their homes. They would give them a key to their homes and they made friendships that could last forever. In 1994 they came to Bethel and since she is an only child, they faced the challenge of caring for her parents’ who had lingering illnesses. They used vacation time and leaves of absence to travel to Illinois to care for them. They didn’t have to give up their treasured Bethel service.

    · What excites you about the direction the Governing Body is going?

Bob Ciranko: “They are feeding us the best spiritual food we have ever received. It is that Jehovah is in charge of the work and in complete control. The new Jeremiah book, page 119 says, “His will is going to take place in the way and at the pace he knows is best. This is guaranteed; we have no reason to doubt it.” As Zech. 8:23 describes, it is clear that God is using these men in a mighty way. If we hold on tightly to the skirt of a spiritual Jew they will lead us to the New World.”

David Schafer: “Jehovah could separate his people out from the rest of the world, but he doesn’t. We have a work to do here. As this world’s system teeters, Jehovah’s organization does whatever it needs to do to lead, feed and protect the sheep while reaching out to others…so that each sheep can be ready for Jehovah’s day.”

Alex Reinmueller: “How Jehovah and Jesus are obviously building the foundation for the New World right before our very eyes. Survivors want to enter organized theocratically. What was a vision back in the 1950’s is a reality today. We are a unified, global nation.”

    ETHIOPIA Manfred Tonak

Ethiopia is an ancient country with a history that goes back to Bible times. The news would have you believe all the children are emaciated and the whole country is a desert. This is not true. Bethel is located at 8,000' above sea level, so it can get quite chilly there. The country is green and there are cattle and rivers. 80% of the Nile’s water comes from Ethiopia’s rivers. The population is 80 million. There are many poor, but there are also high rise buildings and villas. The people are predominately traditional Orthodox or Muslim; others are Protestant or other Christian religions. There are 9,009 publishers with 537 baptized last service year and many Bible studies are being conducted. The government is constructing tens of thousands of condominiums, which has helped with our work. Previously when people lived in tenements everyone knew what their neighbors were doing and this would hamper their progress in the truth. Also there were no street names or house numbers. But now things have changed. People do not know their neighbors and no longer fear what they may think and so many more listen to the good news. The brothers can keep better records now that they have numbers on the apartments. One Bethel couple is conducting 16 Bible studies and they are trying to turn some over so that they can concentrate on their Bethel work.

One Bible study is with a man who was strong and ill-tempered. Twice he assaulted brothers when they were in service. One day he went into a café for coffee, where the cashier was one of the brothers whom he had assaulted. The brother recognized the man and was moved to cover the bill for this man’s table based on Romans 12:17. When the waiter told him that the cashier had paid for their drinks, he turned around to see who it was and was shocked to see that it was the brother whom he had assaulted. The brother had paid back bad treatment with kindness, ‘heaping fiery coals’ upon this man’s head. Shortly afterward, brothers engaged in street witnessing offered this man a Bible study, and he accepted. He has made great changes and faced strong opposition. Some family members tried to discourage him from studying, so he told them, “If you want me to go back to my old ways, you will be the first ones to feel it.” This stopped the opposition. He recently gave his first talk on the Theocratic Ministry School.

A beating brought one brother into the truth. When he was eight, a study was started with his father. He wanted his son to enjoy the study too, but the son didn’t want to study. So he beat his son until he agreed to study. The boy found he liked what he learned. Regrettably, the father stopped studying and then beat his son to try to make him stop studying. This resulted in the son leaving home when he was 14. Now he is a special pioneer.

The Kingdom Hall construction program has accomplished much good. Kingdom Halls are constructed either with cement block, reinforced adobe, metal sheets or even bamboo. The Governing Body gave approval to update 13 outdoor convention sites where Kingdom Halls are located to be dignified settings for worship. The construction program brought additional rewards. The local construction crews learned order, efficiency and spiritual qualities. It made good spiritual men that can be seen by all. 15 of the 35 construction servants became elders and some additional ministerial servants while on construction. Their maturity has a good affect on local brothers as they leave behind fine Kingdom Halls as well as true friends with renewed appreciation for spiritual things.

There are 87 at Bethel. They translate into six languages, some doing so without specialized schooling. Jehovah uses such ones to accomplish great things. In 2008/9 40 new books, brochures and tracts were released, including the Amharic New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures. There are eight languages, which ½ million of the population speak, that translation work has not been started in yet. 2/3 of the publishers live in the capital. Only recently special campaigns have been made to work in distant territories. Ethiopian Witnesses living in other lands were encouraged to use their vacation to come back and preach. 100 brothers responded to the invitation to come back at their own expense and use their vacation to work these areas, and some local brothers joined them. One said, “This has been the best preaching I’ve ever experienced.” “I didn’t know such territory existed in my country” said another. Two temporary special pioneers soon had over 50 studying with them, and now have 75 interested ones. 67 came to the circuit overseer’s visit.

#1 JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES OF MOSCOW VS RUSSIA
    — A WONDERFUL WORK OF JEHOVAH Aulis Bergdahl

Psalm 72:18. On June 10th of this year the European Court of Human Rights handed down a landmark unanimous decision in favor of Jehovah’s Witnesses against Russia. The work in Russia got its start back in 1891. For decades brothers endured severe persecution. In 1970 we were banned and severe persecution broke out. In 1991 Jehovah performed a wonderful work and once again we received legal recognition. At that time there were 15,987 publishers. In 1995 a group, aligned with churches, initiated legal action. They openly alleged five legal challenges in 1998. We won the first challenge outright. 14 days of the proceedings were devoted to the scriptures and our publications, and this turned out for a witness. John Burns was one of the trial lawyers, who said that when the brothers went to the court house, there was a commotion and the brothers could not even get in because it was full of priests. He told them, “Don’t worry, Jehovah has something in mind for those priests.” The lawyer had the translator read in his very best Russian, Matthew 23 (blind guides, whitewashed graves, etc.) When he was finished it was quiet. The next day there was only one priest in attendance. When asked where the others were, he explained, ‘We kept them at home. We didn’t want them listening to the reading of the Bible from you.’ The court ruled in our favor. On appeal the Moscow City Court annulled the appeal and ordered a new trial, with a new judge.

In October 2001 a new round of hearings started. The new judge stated that the trial was going on because she ‘wanted to protect Jehovah’s Witnesses from themselves.’ As a result, over 10,000 brothers signed a petition that they didn’t want her ‘protection.’ So, an ‘expert’ study was ordered. It took three years for this negative study to be finalized. In 2004 the trial resumed and the court issued a ban on the work in Moscow in just one month. An appeal was dismissed. The only recourse left was to appeal to the ECHR (European Court of Human Rights). In Feb. 2009 Moscow filed a mandate claiming Jehovah’s Witnesses were involved in extremist activity. In Sept. 2009 there was a ban on 34 of our publications. We lost the appeal in March 2010, which led to the Kingdom Hall in Taganrog being confiscated. In Oct. 2009 an order in another city was made for an additional 18 publications to be banned. On Jan. 27, 2010 another appeal was lost. Both cases were appealed to the ECHR and are pending. In 2009 the Russian government began to carry out 500 investigation cases against the brothers.

This situation has sparked violence. During 2010 many have been victimized—over 300 instances. Last March, vandals broke into a Kingdom Hall and set it on fire. Last May two sisters preaching north of Moscow were charged with burglaries and imprisoned although there was no proof. They were finally released after six weeks. Last June, vandals wearing masks beat up brothers, set fire to a Kingdom Hall and fled. Brothers were able to put out the fire. What has been the result of this barbaric mistreatment? Growth in the number of publishers and Bible studies. Publishers increased from about 16,000 in 1991 to 162,182 this August, with an average annual growth for the past 19 years of 13.3%. No wonder Babylonian religious leaders are so angry. Jehovah has performed a “wonderful work.” On 6/10/10 the ECHR handed down a unanimous decision in our favor.

    RUSSIA #2 Philip Brumley

By the time our case reached the ECHR there were nine separate charges, each of which Russia felt justified a ban on Jehovah’s Witnesses. The court meticulously reviewed each charge and found all totally without merit. The first charge was that we destroy families. They could not identify any victims. Where does the discord come from? The court found not from the one who became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses because they are happy. It came from resistance of the non-Witness family members who didn’t want them to practice their faith. ® Another charge was that we were in violation of labor laws at our branch in St Petersburg. What does Bethel in St. Petersburg have to do with the Moscow case? The court could have just dismissed the question since it was not really part of the case regarding Moscow, but instead it went out of its way and addressed it. The court clearly stated that Jehovah’s Witnesses who carry on religious service are not employees. Labor laws are not applicable to them. ® Another charge was that they aggressively proselytize. They referred back to the very first case regarding Jehovah’s Witnesses ever heard by the ECHR in Kokkinakis v. Greece, which ruled “it is an essential mission and a responsibility of every Christian in every church.” ® They charged us with mind control and put up a smoke screen of insults. Yet they could not cite the name of a single individual where rights had been violated. ® The charge was brought up that we harm our members by obligating them to refuse blood and require all to carry the medical directive card. The court reasoned that freedom to refuse or accept alternative medical treatment is vital. There was nothing to suggest improper pressure is applied with carrying an Advance Medical Directive. To the contrary, they are prepared for emergencies by filling out the no-blood card.

In this landmark, historic decision, the judges quoted from nine Supreme Court victories by Jehovah’s Witnesses outside of Europe and Russia, including Argentina, Canada, Japan, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States, along with eight victories the ECHR had itself given to Jehovah’s Witness cases. The court agreed all these (17) cases were “rightfully handed down and we agree with them.” The Russian authorities contended they understand Holy Scripture, but ended up like ancient Balak, in trying to curse Israel he was forced to bless them.

Is the battle over? Russia lost but had 90 days to file an appeal with the Grand Chamber. They waited until the very last day they could do so and they filed on 9/9/10. Since it was a unanimous decision in our favor by the European Court, and Russia’s appeal is weak, we could expect by January to hear that the appeal was refused, making the decision final. Conversely, it may be Jehovah’s will for the Grand Chamber to accept the referral and confirm this decision, giving it even greater weight. Will Russia be forced to obey? The decision should bring legal recognition to Jehovah’s Witnesses and put an end to the violations outlined by the court and Russia will be obligated to grant legal status to Jehovah’s Witnesses. Yet it would be naive to think Russian authorities will think this is a good clarification of the law. We can expect more negative propaganda and mistreatment. The prosecution wanted to ‘up the ante’ by including Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout Russia, instead of just Moscow. Therefore, the full decision would be felt throughout Russia. At the core it is a battle for the truth. Are Jehovah’s Witnesses law-abiding or are they extremists? Within Russia are 162,000 publicity agents, as J. F. Rutherford would have called them, who through their preaching speak louder than any propaganda. Outside of Russia there are 47 nations making up the counsel of Europe. In the future they could refer to this decision, if labor laws or a charge of being a destructive sect, etc. is ever brought up again in any other country. This could benefit many other countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Uzbekistan. Stay tuned and keep this matter before Jehovah as we see the unfolding of his wonderful works.

    Announcement: DEVELOPMENTS IN FRANCE
    Stephen Lett

For 13 years brothers contended with the effort by authorities for a 60% tax on donations made between 1993 and 1996, amounting to over 57 million Euros, or $78 million US$. Despite uncontested proof, all levels of the courts in France ruled against us. On 2/24/05 we filed with the ECHR. For over five years authorities in France said they did no wrong. A few days ago on September 21st, there was a unanimous decision of admissibility of our application by the ECHR. Usually they only grant this to 3% of the cases that come before the court. This does not mean we won, but of the 39 cases granted admissibility, we ultimately prevailed in all but two. If it had denied it, our brothers would have been faced with immediate demand for payment. Nothing will stop the Master of the Harvest in his work of finding deserving sheep.

SCHOOL FOR CONGREGATION ELDERS Richard Morlan

How is the school received by the local brothers? The elders are local so publishers provide meals and sometimes accommodations for elders and/or instructors. Some congregations move out of their Kingdom Hall for the school. The response to this school has been overwhelming. So many have expressed appreciation. One brother wrote a letter to step-down from being an elder because of feeling so much stress. The Coordinator of his Body of Elders, instead of accepting it, told him to wait until after the upcoming school to see how he felt. After attending the school he said, “I want to be a shepherd.” He tore up his letter of resignation. The publishers are really seeing benefits from the school.

The average age of the elders is 55, but some are in their 70’s or 80’s and one even in his 90’s. The number of students in a class is 40 to 50. There are six English and two Spanish teams of instructors. The course of intensive study lasts 4½ days. Brothers deserve this because our elders are stretched thin with RBC, hospital visitation, HLC, conventions, shepherding, congregation duties, field, and judicial cases. 1 Cor. 2: 14 says the physical man cannot examine the spiritual man. These are spiritual men. The benefits of the school are that they learn how to study, set an example, and apply principles. They see the reason behind everything that we do has a scriptural reason.

Brother Morlan has been asked, “Are you ever bored teaching the same thing every week?” He said he is never bored because the Bible is never routine. One week he teaches first in the morning and afternoon, and the second week the other instructor teaches first, so that gives variety. He went on to explain, “If you had a new Bible study every week, and they appreciated everything and were hanging on every word of the scriptures, how could you ever be bored?” They are a very appreciative group. The instructors’ wives get to spend time in the ministry, and if they stay in an area awhile they can even start studies of their own. When we read John 17:3 with a new student, we say it covers the basic things he needs to do. Yet it is extremely profound because it will be true a billion years from now. “It’s a great school and I’m glad I could report about it to you.”

    THE 2011 YEAR TEXT—ZEPH. 3:12 Guy Pierce

Jehovah’s people are a happy people. It is not superficial, a “flash in the pan,” but we are genuinely happy because of our relationship with God. Psalm 36:7 shows why we feel the way we do, “How precious your loving-kindness is, O God! And in the shadow of your wings the sons of men themselves take refuge.” Psalm 90:17-91:1, “And the work of our hands do you firmly establish upon us. Yes, the work of our hands, do you firmly establish it. Anyone dwelling in the secret place of the Most High will procure himself lodging under the very shadow of the Almighty One.” What could be better? Zeph. 3:9, “For then I shall give to peoples the change to a pure language, in order for them all to call upon the name of Jehovah, in order to serve him shoulder to shoulder.” What a privilege we have, now is a great time to be alive, a season of rejoicing. It is also a serious, sobering time, as Zeph. 1:14-18 says in part, “The great day of Jehovah is near. It is near, and there is a hurrying of it very much…That day is a day of fury…anguish…darkness and of gloominess…he will make an extermination, indeed a terrible one, of all the inhabitants of the earth.” This is a serious time, a time to be sober in our relationship with Jehovah. We need divine protection and a place of refuge. The world is in turmoil. Jesus said we are facing a great tribulation, beyond our imagination, something that has never before happened. Nothing will compare to the day of Jehovah’s fury. Some of you came from countries with wars, earthquakes, tsunamis; and disease affects the world. People today know the world is in trouble. They look for security of their own making or to Satan’s counterfeit refuge of religion and politics. This is futile. Isaiah 28:15 is an example of what we’ll see today, “We have made a lie our refuge,” a big lie. Their religions do not turn them to the true source of security. In June 2008 the “vicar of Christ” gave direction to not even use God’s name in their hymns and prayers. He’s supposed to represent Jesus, whose name means, “Jehovah is salvation.” Instead of being a refuge, they become part of the problem. Revelation 18:4, 5 says, “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.” When the great tribulation begins with the destruction of Babylon the Great, it will come with a swiftness that will catch many off guard if they don’t associate with the refuge that Jehovah provides. Rev. 18:21, “Thus with a swift pitch will Babylon the great city be hurled down, and she will never be found again.” Those who try to seek refuge in this counterfeit source will not find security. Human governments offer no real refuge. A few weeks ago 192 nations met in the UN for the General Assembly, yet there was no unity to be found. The preamble of charter for the UN that was established in 1945 says that its purpose is to ‘save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.’ Have they ended war? Since then 150 wars have left 23 million dead. The charter also says “reaffirm faith in human rights.” Mankind’s lot in life is worse. The irony is they have a statue of a man beating his sword into a plow, and even have a quote from the Bible in stone across the street. Yet they do not even mention this is where they have taken it from. In Korea 800 of our brothers are in prison for neutrality. They are the ones who are learning war no more. The further irony is the Secretary General of the UN is from South Korea. Just because we have legal victories we’d never want to think this court in Europe is a refuge for us. It is still part of Satan’s world. Genesis 3:15 said the enmity would be between “you and the woman.” The enmity will not change. Some look to materialistic pursuits and the deceptive power of riches. Hopes aren’t hinged on a government. Jeremiah told Baruch not to seek great things for himself (Jer. 45:5). Others seek higher education, amusement, recreation and drugs, but none of these can protect them in the day of Jehovah’s fury. Consider our source of security. Will you survive the great tribulation? Will you survive until the great tribulation? Joel 2:32 says, “And it must occur that everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will get away safe.” What does it mean to call on Jehovah? To know him, to deeply respect, rely and trust in him, to know the person represented by that name, to be loyal to him, and to love him, as Mark 12:30 says, “with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.” If we love Jehovah, how must we feel about his Word? We must love and obey it, never begrudge the study of it. Different scriptures talk about calling on the name of Jehovah for refuge (Psalm 7:1; 11:1; Zeph. 3:9; Joel 2:32; 3:16), but they are not next year’s theme text.

The year text will be Zephaniah 3:12, “Take Refuge in the Name of Jehovah.” Remember the seriousness of our time.

HAVE YOU ENTERED INTO GOD’S REST? David Splane

“And God proceeded to bless the seventh day and make it sacred, because on it he has been resting from all his work that God has created.” (Genesis 2:3) That rest day is still going on, a 7,000 year long rest day. It will continue to go on through the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ. When the Bible says “God proceeded to rest,” does this mean that Jehovah has stopped working? The key to understanding this is at John 5:17, “My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.” It is interesting that Jesus gives indirect confirmation that the day of rest was continuing in his day. His enemies had just accused him of violating the Sabbath. Jesus’ response in effect was, “My father has continued working during his 7,000 year-long sabbath so it is proper for me to continue working on my sabbath.” Working in what sense? Jehovah has kept working in order to bring his purpose for the things he created to a successful conclusion and he’ll keep working until his purpose is fulfilled at the end of the thousand years.

The apostle Paul had mentioned that humans can come into Jehovah’s rest, but is this a time of inactivity? No. There are things we need to desist from, but what has God been doing during his rest? He has been working to bring his purposes to a successful conclusion. So, everyone brought into his rest must keep working or cooperating with Jehovah towards the fulfillment of his purposes. We do this by living our lives with God’s purpose in mind. If we work contrary to God’s purpose, are we entering into God’s rest? That is what happened to the ancient Israelites. Jehovah had purposed to deliver them from Egypt and make them into a model kingdom. They could show other nations how happy and blessed they too could be by living according to Jehovah laws. Just think if Israel had obeyed. Jehovah would have blessed their fields, vineyards and flocks. Their enemies would have had no hold on them. When the promised Messiah arrived they would have found a solid future. But the Israelites showed little interest. They wanted to return to Egypt even though they knew this meant they couldn’t follow the Law or make sacrifices in Egypt. Talk about Esau giving up his birthright for a bowl of red stew. The Israelites were willing to give up the Promised Land for a bowl of salad! “The cucumbers, the leeks, the onions….” Not even a descent tomato! They did not take Jehovah’s purposes into account. The ones who finally entered the Promised Land didn’t make it a place of rest. Heb. 4:9 says, “So there remains a sabbath resting for the people of God.” This shows that the rest was still continuing in Paul’s day. God wanted to make them into a new model nation, the Israel of God, to show what a superior way of life they could have by doing things God’s way. Yet some Jewish Christians wanted to hold on to the old traditions. Paul was frank, when he said in verse 11, “Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest, for fear anyone should fall in the same pattern of disobedience.” They weren’t being disobedient in all things, but they were not working in harmony with God’s purpose to replace the old covenant with the new. Thus Paul equated disobedience with not being in God’s rest. The Gentile Christians did not have a problem with not following the old law covenant. So were Jehovah’s words applicable to the Gentiles and by extension to us? Hebrews 4:10 clearly states that entering into God’s rest involves desisting from certain works, not just works of self-justification. “Dead works” are any works that do not contribute to the advancement of Jehovah’s purpose, but work against it. What is God’s purpose in regards to secular work? What if a Christian were to start a new business and year after year keep putting it first and the spiritual things were to take a backseat? Another question, how do I react if I get counsel on my lifestyle or when scriptural counsel from an elder differs from my personal views? We will illustrate with a couple of examples.

    1. In the late 19th century some gave well-prepared talks to adoring audiences. They began to enjoy the adulation they were receiving. Then organizational direction came to go from house to house, and these ones refused to do so. Outwardly they were pious, spiritual men fully devoted to the Lord. But the Word of God clearly divided what they appeared to be and what they actually were. Motives were manifested. God’s purpose wasn’t as important as their own agenda. Personal pride led to their spiritual death.

    2. God’s purpose to keep the organization clean. Our loyalty may be tried. For example, what if an exemplary couple’s only son is disfellowshipped. The parents are devastated. They know what the scriptures say (1 Cor. 5:11, “But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone.”) This includes a family member not under the same roof. But they love their son so much that they begin to reason, “How can we help our son return to Jehovah if we limit our association with him?” It takes faith to believe that if we do things Jehovah’s way, everything will always work out for the best. After all, the son had a choice. He had a choice to maintain his relationship with Jehovah and his parents. He chose unchristian conduct. His parents had no such choice. What will that dear mom and dad do? Will they rationalize, or will they obey Jehovah’s clear admonition? Remember that the term “necessary family business” is our term; it is not found in the Bible. We believe Jehovah will “understand.” Therefore, it is important not to push the envelope. Keep Jehovah’s purpose in mind in this regard. What is the benefit of doing things Jehovah’s way? It keeps the organization clean, and keeps bad attitudes out. The wrongdoers’ relationship with Jehovah is damaged and they don’t even care. They may reason that since they don’t see Jehovah, he isn’t real. But his mom and dad are real. If they support Jehovah’s decision, perhaps the son will see how his relationship with Jehovah has also been damaged. But how do you think Jehovah would feel if the parents kept putting him to the test by having unnecessary association with their son? They could damage their own relationship with Jehovah. It takes faith to believe that if we do things Jehovah’s way, everything will turn out all right. When a relative is disfellowshipped, keep God’s purpose for it in mind. Only if we are working in accord with God’s purpose can we say we entered into God’s rest.

Many of you say you never expected to get this old in this system. But, you did expect to get this old; just not in this shape! Do we still have Jehovah’s purpose clearly in mind, his purpose for me, personally? We are to keep on the watch. We need to support that in word and deed. By our comments do we show we are we just as convinced we fully believe we’re living in the time of the end, or do our comments show we long for the leeks and onions? Do you say, “If only I had gone to university, taken that promotion, started that business, etc.” Are there areas of our life that need adjustment to bring them in line with Jehovah’s purpose? Jehovah has confidence in us. We need to show our support for his sovereignty. Let us all do our utmost to enter into God’s rest.

WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? Anthony Morris

Gus was an aging, ailing, faithful old brother. For a Greek Orthodox to come into the organization takes great love and great courage. Gus would often ask, “When is Jehovah going to ‘push the button?’” He wanted to be there when Armageddon came. He died 35 years ago. Jehovah ‘pushed the button’ with the first prophecy at Genesis 3:15, and really pushed it in 1914 with the establishment of the Kingdom and Satan and his demon brothers were cast to the earth. But this resulted in woe for the earth. Micah 7:4 describes what we see today that “Their best one is like a brier, their most upright one is worse than a thorn hedge.” And it is just getting worse. So we need to establish a proper attitude now. Jehovah, the General, has probably told Jesus when Armageddon is to start. But there is an attitude Jehovah expects from us. Micah 7:5-7 tells us: “I will show a waiting attitude for the God of my salvation.” It would be inappropriate to wait and not show joy. Jehovah waits, but he is so happy while he waits. With all of the heartache we experience day in and day out, a proper waiting attitude helps us to endure. For example, some will push the elevator button, and then push it again and again if doesn’t come right away. This does no good; it is an inanimate object. It is programmed to come when it will. Avoid an attitude like that, be Christian and imitate Jehovah.

Some have seen the disasters that have recently taken place and say ‘this must be Armageddon.” Though the concluding talk at the convention this year touched on some of these things, the review will be good for us, we need to keep this clear in mind. “Repetition is the mother of retention.” This is what we’re waiting for. Some think the man who wanted to burn the Koran meant Armageddon was coming. The Bible doesn’t say anywhere, “When a preacher down south wants to burn the Koran, Armageddon is coming.”1 Thess. 5:2, 3 —that’s what we’re waiting for; the cry of ‘peace and security’ then sudden destruction. It will be one declaration or perhaps a series. We can’t reason out prophecy. This is a specific prophecy that has not yet been fulfilled. This will be an exceptional development. Other developments are only a veneer. Like cheap wood used to make furniture, they try to cover it with a thin veneer of cherry wood. Only a fool would believe it is real.

Something else we’re waiting for is at Rev. 7:1-3, where the four angels are holding back the four winds…until after we have sealed the slaves of our God in their foreheads.” When all of the remnant are irrevocably sealed, then the angels will let forth the winds. Turn to Rev. 17:15-17, this describes the destruction of the whore. This begins the great tribulation, when the beast turns on false religion. The faithful, holy angels don’t have to touch the unclean whore, the nations do it. It is God’s judgment and his thought that he put into their mind. When the ancient city of Babylon was destroyed, angels weren’t used. We see today a drying up of her waters. But the harlot's attitude is expressed at Rev. 18:7, “To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury…she keeps saying, ‘I sit a queen, and I am no widow, and I shall never see mourning.’” Oh yeah? Read your Bible! Even with its poor translation that leaves out the name of Jehovah, it is very clear what will happen! (Vs 8) “She will be completely burned with fire.”

In the meantime, what should we be doing? In addition to having a waiting attitude, we need to close ranks! That term was used in The Watchtower a few times. It is a military term dating back to the 1700’s, meaning the bringing of troops into close order with no gaps in the fighting line, tighten up to fight the enemy. As individual members in the Governing Body, each one of us falls short of the stature of the Christ. But as a group, when we come to a unanimous accord, we come close. So, don’t ever doubt that Jesus Christ is leading us to victory. Will you circuit and district overseers, pioneers, missionaries, Bethelites and long time faithful servants close ranks with us against the Devil and his demons? While we wait for the cry of ‘peace and security,’ the sealing of the anointed and the outbreak of the great tribulation, let us close ranks and take to heart the words of Psalm 31:24, “Be courageous, and may YOUR heart be strong, all you who are waiting for Jehovah.”

    SOMETHING NEW ABOUT OUR WATCHTOWER
    MAGAZINE—Announcement Geoffrey Jackson

The cry at Rev. 7:9, 10 is being sounded in more languages than ever before. Compare what has happened with 20 years ago. Then the Watchtower was available in 108 languages, but as of January 2011 it will be available in 185 languages, all simultaneously. In 1990 the New World Translation was available in nine languages, and today it is available in 94 languages (60 complete and 34 the Christian Greek Scriptures.) Back then there was nothing available in Sign Language. Today there are over 50 translation teams in sign languages around the world, the Watchtower available in nine. Seven teams are translating the Bible.

However, another language field that needs attention is where English is the common language, in countries like Fiji, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Zimbabwe. They speak their vernacular languages but often use English in the meetings. The English they use is simpler because they have little or no exposure to advanced English. They need simplified vocabulary and grammar. Also, millions of displaced people use English to survive. They attend meetings in English but have a limited knowledge of the language itself. To fill their spiritual needs, what has been approved is the preparation of a simplified edition of the Watchtower in English. It will be a 32-page monthly edition containing the study articles and artwork. It will have a unique cover, but will have the regular number of paragraphs. Listen to one paragraph:

“Jehovah’s people fight a war. Our enemy is powerful. He is very tricky and knows what to do to win. He uses a strong weapon. With this weapon he controls most people in the world. But we do not feel weak. We can win the war. There is something very powerful to help us win. No one can beat it.”

This simplified edition will also be beneficial for many translators that translate from English. Parents too will find it useful to prepare for the Watchtower study with their children. It is planned for the middle of 2011 for a trial period of one year. We praise Jehovah for his generous provisions of spiritual food at the proper time.

    MORE ANNOUNCEMENTS Stephen Lett
    Ø

The Governing Body’s decision to launch a pilot program for shepherding district overseers and their wives.

Everyone has a personal arrangement for being shepherded except district overseers and their wives. Bethel representatives will be sent out to spend a week with the district overseer for meetings, share in the field ministry, and join them for the circuit assembly. Who will make these shepherding visits? Brothers who have a keen understanding of what the traveling work is all about, a keen love for them and empathy, such as Branch Committee members and others who have spent time in the traveling work before Bethel. When will this begin? When the Kingdom Ministry Schools conclude. This program will be tested for two years in the United States and then implemented worldwide.

    Ø Four Theocratic Schools

    · Beginning 9/1/11, each year at Patterson we will have two classes of the School for the Branch Committee Members as well as two classes for the School for Traveling Overseers.

Some may ask, “Haven’t most attended? Who will attend?” Branch Committee members and traveling overseers who previously attended will be progressively invited to attend a second time. Repeat attenders will be mixed with new students similar to how it is done with the Pioneer Service School.

    · Henceforth, the name “Ministerial Training School” will be changed to the “Bible School for Single Brothers.”

The school and the requirements will remain the same. So far, 37,445 have attended worldwide, some serving as pioneers, traveling overseers, missionaries or Bethelites.

    · Very soon a new theocratic school will begin called the “Bible School for Christian Couples.”

The curriculum will be two months and will be similar to the Bible School for Single Brothers. A few of the classes will be held with brothers only while their wives go in field service. The same instructors who taught the school for single brothers will teach this school as well.

What is the purpose? To give married couples specialized training to be used more fully. Most will be sent out afterward as regular pioneers in their home country. Some will be special pioneers and some traveling overseers. Others as missionaries, those with availability to serve in another country, depending on their qualifications and the need.

What are the requirements? They must be married for two years and have spent at least the last two years in full-time service. They must be 50 years old or younger. They must be interested in being used more fully as a couple by Jehovah’s organization.

When will this school begin? July/August 2011 at Patterson. They are planning a few pilot classes at Patterson and then expect it to go worldwide in the same locations that the Bible School for Single Brothers is being conducted. Further information will be forthcoming.

    Attendance: Brooklyn–2,750; Patterson–2,737; Wallkill–2,663; Canada–436; Jersey City Assembly Hall–4,996. Total Attendance: 13,582

for a trial period of one year

why would they require a trial period for anything they do? Is Jehovah not sure what he wants of them or is this where some gb members hear the message and others don't leading to a "well I didn't hear it loud and clear, but I'm okay with a trial". Maybe at the gb meetings on Wednesday mornings they should wake up the old dude and get his opinion.

"2 Samuel 15:3 says that Absalom was trying to usurp the kingship from his father, David. He even had a royal chariot made for himself (vs 1), with 50 men running before him. Although impressive to men, compared with Jehovah’s glorious, fear-inspiring chariot, it is a sluggish, miniscule, clumsy rattletrap."

Best description of the Organization I've read in many years. They like to think of themselves as something great but in reality their "chariot" is just as described above!

    1. Strange. I've encountered LOTS of them on this website.

    2. How did this happen? Aren't the governments of this world devoted to persecuting Jehovah's organization?

<< "Where does the discord come from? The court found not from the one who became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses because they are happy. It came from resistance of the non-Witness family members who didn’t want them to practice their faith." >>

    I found this sad:

"We cannot see into the heavenly realm, but it is amazing when we see how fast things are happening on earth during these last days.

In 2009 Luxemburg merged with Germany."

For any who lived during the time of Knorr and Fred Franz this list of examples cited to show the speed of Jehovah's Organization is a sad joke. Might as well include the fact that they have gone from one-ply to two-ply at Patterson and btw we stopped turning old sheets into table napkins. lol

Very sad, this delusion that has taken over the younger GB.

We praise Jehovah for his generous provisions of spiritual food at the proper time.
Why would Jehovah provide the wrong food over the years, call it the right food, then change it? Why? Why wouldn't he provide the truth all of the time? I thought God could not lie? If it is God's Organization, and he provided the spiritual food that was inferior and/or blatantly wrong, wouldn't he be lying?
